Product Integration Engineer - Electrical

The opportunity:

Hitachi Energy India Development Centre (IDC) is a research and development facility with around 500 R&D engineers, specialists, and experts, who focus on creating and sustaining digital solutions, new products and technology. This includes product integration, testing, cybersecurity, and certification. The India Development Centre is situated in Chennai and Bangalore. IDC collaborates with the R&D and Research centers of Hitachi Energy, which are spread across more than 15 locations throughout 12 countries. In the past 20 years, IDC has secured more than 200 international papers and 150+ patents. Responsible to conduct and manage product development, type tests and design improvements related to Electrical aspects of product design, across the G&PQSS range to ensure the product portfolio remains at the forefront of technology. Including but not limited to performance improvements, cost reductions, increased manufacturability, and new application/new market developments.

How you'll make an impact:

• Responsible for leading R&D activities. Collaborate with the team to design and develop electrical systems and products. For designing, hands-on experience of software like DS-E3 is one of the advantageous requirements.
• Integrate electrical components and systems and conduct testing to ensure functionality and performance. To be willing to learn electrical complex systems and passionate about working with cutting edge technology.

• Work closely with product line cross functional teams located across geographical regions. This includes functions such as SCM, manufacturing/production, service, engineering, sales, project management, product management.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including design documentation, test procedures, product manuals.
• Actively engage with global market and industry representatives to ensure market trends are noted and where applicable identify future development project opportunities. Have thorough understanding of competitor offerings.
• Ensures alignment with assigned project development targets (time, cost, quality) and coordinates with the project team involved in specific R&D activities.
• Capacity to generate new ideas for improvement and develop innovative solutions to enhance existing products, services or processes.
• Ability to think creatively and develop novel solutions to complex problems. Takes initiative to identify opportunities for innovation and proposes solutions.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background:

• Required master's degree in EEE/Power system/Power electronics from reputed institution. Hands-on experience in the field of R&D new product/prototype development and type testing.

• Preparation of electrical design schematics, product manual, hardware specification, software specification and power system calculation. Selection and finalization of electrical-electronics components, cables, converters, auxiliary equipment etc. for any LV or MV product integration.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocol enabled products. Having ability of selection, assembly, and testing (Hardware and software both). Knowledge of protocols like Modbus TCP/IP, CAN, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET.
• Knowledge of relevant standards such as IEC, UL, SAE, IEEE. Knowledge of product safety and cyber security. Detailed knowledge and work experience with products like multi-winding power transformers, power converters, FACTS equipment, harmonic filters, DC or AC charging systems for battery charging in MW range, ESS(energy storage systems).
• Preferred candidate is with work experience in the field/fields E - mobility product AC/DC charging side / STATCOM/LV-MV electrical projects in MW range/renewable energy product in MW range like BESS, wind or solar system etc. DS-E3, AUTOCAD, MATLAB, ETAP

• Ability to work with global large teams, stress-tolerant, Strategic thinking. Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
