As a PLM and Engineering Tools Implementation Specialist, you will play a key role in implementing, operating, and continuously improving our PLM ecosystem. Acting as the link between engineering, factories, and IT, you will help establish a robust digital thread from mechanical design through PLM to manufacturing execution. This role combines PLM implementation, engineering tools integration, mechanical engineering expertise, and engineering data management, offering an exciting opportunity to influence both digital transformation and factory automation initiatives across Hitachi Energy.

Responsible for implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of PLM to support engineering tools and enable factory automation.

This role combines:

  • PLM implementation support
  • PLM operations & housekeeping
  • Mechanical engineering domain expertise

The role ensures a robust digital thread from mechanical design → PLM → manufacturing execution.

How you'll make an impact

PLM Implementation

  • Contribute and/or lead tools implementation projects
  • Support design tools and PLM integration
  • Support data architecture and migration
  • Ensure alignment with global strategies, policies, architecture, and standards

PLM Operations & Housekeeping

  • Collaborate with PLM team
  • Perform engineering data quality activities:
    • CAD/PLM consistency checks
    • Metadata completion and cleanup
  • Resolve issues (check-in errors, workflows, data inconsistencies)
  • Support CAD cleanup and harmonization initiatives

Mechanical Engineering & CAD Data Management

  • Act as PLM expert for mechanical engineering domain
  • Ensure correct CAD structures and CAD-PLM alignment
  • Manage skeleton models, templates, and modular design patterns
  • Optimize:
    • CAD-BOM consistency
    • Dependencies and model quality
  • Support standard parts libraries and modular design

Engineering Tools & Integration

  • Integrate Creo and other tools with Windchill
  • Enable centralized data management and lifecycle traceability
  • Support automation between engineering tools and PLM

Factory Automation Enablement

  • Translate PLM data into manufacturing inputs:
    • Machine parameters, work instructions, test data
  • Support integration with MES / factory systems
  • Enable design-driven automation

Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and enforce CAD/PLM standards
  • Drive data quality, reuse, and standardization
  • Optimize engineering change and release processes
  • Identify automation opportunities

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Interface between engineering, factories, and IT
  • Support users with training, documentation, and best practices

Your background

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in:
    • PLM systems (Windchill preferred)
    • Engineering tools ecosystem / CAD (Creo preferred)
    • PLM implementation or digital transformation programs

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in:
    • Windchill configuration and data model
    • CAD data management and integration
    • Engineering change workflows
  • Experience with:
    • Data migration and system rollout
    • PLM housekeeping and data quality operations
    • System integration (APIs, middleware)
  • Understanding of:
    • BOM and configuration management
    • Factory systems and digital thread concepts

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in complex global environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder alignment
  • Continuous improvement and data-driven mindset
