The opportunity:
You as a Legal Counsel will be part of Hitachi Energy business based in Bengaluru , India You will provide professional advice on a broad range of legal and integrity issues relating to the Grid Integration business line particularly regarding high value complex tenders and projects (i.e. HVDC Interconnector, offshore wind, Grid and Power Quality Solutions, etc.).
How you'll make an impact:
- Meeting with customers, partners and suppliers, negotiating contractual terms in collaboration with relevant business stakeholders to drive the development of different business models particularly with regard to high value complex tenders and projects (HVDC, offshore wind connections, substations and FACTS).
- Working as a trusted business partner.
- Identifying legal issues of concern to the business and proactively develop effective legal strategies, mitigation actions and practical solutions in support of business activities.
- Contributing to the review the tender preparation, risks identification, risk review, framework agreements, partnerships, settlements, etc. all in coordination with key internal stakeholders.
- Collaborating with legal teams in globally, as well as with interdisciplinary teams.
- Promoting dispute avoidance and strategize the management of disputes and litigations liaising, where necessary, with external law firms and experts.
- Ensuring compliance with the applicable laws and regulations as well as internal regulations in various fields.
- Contributing to the development of directives and assisting with implementation.
- Collaborating in Risk Management and other internal processes. Collaborating and supporting Regional Legal team.
- Training of Company employees in all legal matters.

Your background:
- Bachelor's degree in law.
- 8+ years of experience as a lawyer relating to grid system or major utilities construction/ engineering projects with a successful track record of handling complex international corporate and commercial transactions as well as significant claims and litigations.
- Knowledge of governmental and commercial regulations and practices, working knowledge of FIDIC and offshore contracts.
- Proven communication, drafting of contracts and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to travel.
- Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
