Graduate Protection Engineer

Join our Grid Automation Team as a Graduate Protection Engineer and contribute to the advancement of power grid technology, making a difference in the power grid sector. This exciting role is based in Stone, Staffordshire, where you'll spend three days a week with the team. As part of a dynamic and supportive engineering team, you'll be dedicated to providing innovative solutions to our customers.

You will gain an understanding of the local UK market within our product portfolios and manage small projects with the team's support and guidance.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Assist in preparing functional design specifications and project scope documents.
  • Prepare protection designs for production and manufacturing.
  • Learn about Protection product selection, IED configurations, and protection IEC61850 engineering.
  • Participate in the development of new protection solutions and control the full development cycle (from concept design to delivery).
  • Handle type registration, product approval engineering, and documentation.
  • Help prepare proposals/presentations for engineering projects/programs (including bills of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc.).
  • Develop commercial awareness and support project management by issuing claims (related to new/changes in scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.).
  • Support communication related to specific assignments or meetings

Background:

  • A degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a similar field.
  • Positive creative approach to engineering and project work.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels within the business.
  • A keenness to learn and self-develop through self-teaching and inquisitive engagement. We offer an on-site "Buddy" system to ensure continuous learning and development.
  • Able to work form our Stone office at least three days a week.
