Energy System Project Manager

Location: Malaysia (Petaling Jaya / Johor Bahru)
The Opportunity
Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the execution of energy infrastructure projects. The role is responsible for delivering projects safely, on time, within budget, and in line with customer requirements and Hitachi Energy standards.

How You'll Make an Impact

Planning and Scheduling

• Develop and maintain project scope, schedules, financial plans, and risk management plans.
• Ensure project planning activities are executed effectively by the project team.
• Monitor milestones, progress, and project risks.

• Lead project execution in accordance with Hitachi Energy policies and best practices.
• Monitor project performance, resource utilization, schedule, and budget.
• Manage project financials, including forecasting, invoicing, cost control, and cash flow.
• Identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
• Drive project close-out, customer acceptance, and lessons learned activities.

• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company policies.
• Coordinate procurement of services, equipment, and materials with Supply Chain Management.
• Support contract negotiations, claims, variations, and change management activities.

• Serve as the primary customer contact throughout the project lifecycle.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Manage escalations and communicate project updates effectively.

• Ensure compliance with Hitachi Energy HSE requirements.
• Promote a strong safety culture across project teams and contractors.

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5-10 years of project management experience within energy, power systems, electrical infrastructure, EPC, or utility industries.
• Experience managing complex engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Experience in GIS substations, energy systems, or data centre projects is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and stakeholder management.
• PMP certification preferred.
• PRINCE2 or other project management certifications will also be considered.
• Experience in contract and claims management.
• Strong customer and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

• Projects are primarily located in Johor Bahru.
• Regular travel to customer and project sites is required.
• Candidates should be comfortable working in a customer-facing project environment.
