Control & Protection Engineer - HVDC Service
The Opportunity
Do you want to develop advanced control and protection functions for some of the world's largest power transmission projects?
As a Control & Protection Engineer, you will work with the development, configuration, and verification of control and protection applications for HVDC systems. Using graphical programming environments for real-time systems, you will design and implement functionality for control, monitoring, automation, and protection.
You will be part of an international engineering team and work closely with system engineers, test engineers, and commissioning teams throughout the project lifecycle.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this role is the opportunity to follow your solutions from design and testing all the way to commissioning in real power transmission systems.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, learning new technologies, and collaborating with colleagues from different disciplines and cultures. Personal qualities, curiosity, and a willingness to grow are just as important as technical skills.

- Configure real-time applications for HVDC control systems.
- Perform simulation, testing, and verification in laboratory environments.
- Participate in system testing, Factory System Tests (FST), and commissioning activities.

- Collaborate with system, network, cybersecurity, and site teams in global project environments.
Your background
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Electronics, Automation, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Interest in control systems, automation, software development, and real-time applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a structured way in technically complex environments.
- Good communication skills in English. Swedish is considered an advantage.
- A collaborative and proactive mindset with the ability to work effectively in international teams.
Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with graphical function block programming, such as HiDraw, Simulink, or PLC Function Block Diagram (FBD).
- Knowledge of power systems, HVDC, FACTS, or substation automation.
- Experience with real-time systems, simulation environments, or system testing.
- Experience from commissioning, testing, or field activities is considered a plus.
