Control and Protection Commissioning Engineer for HVDC

As a Control and Protection Commissioning Engineer you will be part of HVDC unit. You will get involved in the later stages of system test on Hitachi Energy premises. You will lead the commissioning activities of Control and Protection and SCADA at customer's premises. You will be part of the hand-over and trial operation of HVDC links. You will have a direct interface with our customers. You will have the opportunity to develop your expertise in HVDC technology, lead some of the most interesting projects in the energy field and you will have the opportunity to travel the world.

For this role we are looking for engineers with different levels of experience. Don't hesitate to apply even if you feel that you don't fulfill all requirements. Most important for this role is your personality, a proactive attitude and willingness to learn and explore new areas. Good teamwork and collaboration skills are crucial to succeeding in the role.

How you'll make an impact

  • Organize and execute testing and commissioning activities, including preparation and management of test equipment.
  • Participate in technical discussions with clients and consultants, ensuring alignment with project scope and division of work.
  • Monitor and communicate any changes to the Commissioning Manager, ensuring contractual commitments are met.
  • Support tendering activities related to commissioning scopes and contribute to planning efforts.
  • Analyze and respond to system disturbances during commissioning and operation phases.
  • Uphold Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for actions and fostering a respectful work environment.

Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent technical background.
  • Proven experience in Control & Protection or SCADA or cyber security systems, across design and testing phases.
  • Hands-on experience with AC substations, HVDC technology, and commissioning of complex systems.
  • Familiarity with MACH systems, IEC 61850, HVDC projects, and IED relay programming is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and collaborate effectively.
  • Fluent in English, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work in compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
