Commissioning Engineer

The opportunity

The Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for ensuring all systems are fully operational and compliant prior to handover of the facility/plant to the client. This role will involve working closely with the project management team, contractors and clients to ensure all aspects of commissioning are completed in line with project schedule and quality standards. The ideal candidate should have experience in electrical, mechanical or process engineering disciplines as well as excellent communication skills both written and verbal. They must also possess strong organizational abilities along with problem solving techniques required when dealing with complex issues related to commissioning activities.

How you'll make an impact

  • Manage the overall site preparation including coordination with contractors and subcontractors to ensure timely completion of tasks such as installing equipment, connecting utilities, conducting inspections etc.
  • Ensure all necessary permits are obtained before commencing any work.
  • Supervise the installation of equipment and ensure it meets specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Review drawings regularly to identify potential issues early on so appropriate action can be taken.
  • Coordinate with suppliers regarding delivery schedules and other logistics.
  • Monitor progress against milestones set forth by project manager.
  • Maintain accurate records of all activities undertaken during commissioning phase.
  • Provide feedback to project manager regarding status updates related to commissioning activities.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments within organization (e.g., procurement, finance) when needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with relevant safety guidelines governing industrial sites.
  • Strong analytical thinking capability coupled with problem-solving skills required when encountering complex issues related to commissioning processes.
  • Knowledge of SDH, DWDM, MPLS-TP and other ethernet standards.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written in Arabic and English is required.
