Sr Engineer (Java/Scala)

What's the role?

In the role of Sr Engineer in OneSearch team you will:

• Implement features for core backend and data-processing services.
• Support maintenance, debugging, and fixes for backend services and storage systems.
• Occasionally assist with benchmarking and evaluation: running competitive tests, interpreting scoring behavior, designing experiments, and deciding whether a proposed change should be addressed by parsing logic, ranking, or data enrichment.
• Build automation tools and analyzing data from various sources (for example, platform catalogs and internal storage).
• Create simple user interfaces and visual reports (charts/dashboards) to present results.

Who are you?

You are a fast learner and are comfortable working with little direction. You take initiative and bring up ideas. In addition you have the following:

• 5 to 8 years of working experience in technology industry.
• Fluency in Java and/or Scala.
• Experience in AWS cloud technology
• Experience with operating and maintaining large scale distributed web services with low latencies
• Fluency in gitlab or other git deployments, including pipeline creation and external triggers.
• Ability to communicate complex systems and solutions in an easy-to-understand way to non-technical stakeholders in English (written/speech)
• Good understanding of Kubernetes & Docker technology and  of microservices architectural style
• Understanding of Big data processing

In this position you will be part of the OneSearch team under Location Services group. The team works on creating and maintaining location intelligent services like geocoding, reverse geocoding, browse, search, autocomplete. There are various components through which a user request travels, and so we have component teams within OneSearch. The team uses latest technologies and innovations to make sure service responses with highest quality and minimal latency.
