Guidehouse is seeking a seasoned Management Consultant to lead Information Technology (IT) Program Management Office (PMO) engagements within the utility sector. In this role, the candidate will drive the design and execution of governance frameworks that enable successful delivery of complex technology programs. Candidates will join Guidehouse’s Energy Transformation Solution Team and become a part of a dynamic team delivering comprehensive and customer-centric solutions that transform our client’s operations, increase efficiencies, and prepare for change in the Energy Sector. This is an opportunity to shape transformative initiatives that modernize critical infrastructure and advance digital capabilities for leading utility organizations.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead IT Program Management Office (PMO) engagements for major utility clients, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and governance of PMO frameworks, processes, and tools to drive operational excellence.
  • Partner with client leadership to define program objectives, success metrics, and reporting structures.
  • Manage large-scale IT programs and portfolios, including budgeting, resource allocation, risk management, and performance tracking.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communication and change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of PMO practices.
  • Identify process improvements to translate translating business strategy into technology decisions.
  • Provide thought leadership on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and process optimization within the utility sector.
  • Leverage best practices currently employed in the private and public sectors to improve, sustain, and mature the PMO portfolio management functions.
  • Structure approaches to solving discrete problems, delivering clear requests for information, and demonstrating flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks.
  • Convey ideas clearly in an oral and written manner, both one-on-one and in small groups.

What You Will Need:

  • Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent resident, due to the nature of client engagements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or related field.
  • FIVE (5+) plus years of post-graduation work experience with a focus on IT PMO or program governance.
  • Deep understanding of the utility sector, including regulatory compliance, operational challenges, and technology trends.
  • Proficiency in PMO tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar), portfolio management systems, and reporting dashboards.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to work onsite in a Guidehouse Office or Client Office location.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Preference will be given to candidates within reasonable driving distance of a core Guidehouse Office or Client Office location.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or MS in Information Systems).
  • IT PMO or program governance within the electric/power utilities industry
  • Industry standard Project Management certification(s) such as a PMP or PgMP; ITIL or similar frameworks
  • Prior consulting experience with top-tier firms or large-scale utility projects.
  • Knowledge and experience with one or more technology solutions including GIS and SAP for integrating flexible generation and digitalization to improve energy system resilience, grid OT/IT, AI/ML technology modernization solutions, cybersecurity, portfolio & asset management.
  • Experience with digital transformation initiatives in utilities (e.g., smart grid, cloud migration).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and hybrid delivery models.
