Purpose of the role:

The purpose of the Continuous Improvement Engineer is to support the implementation of the lean culture, standardize best practices and processes and facilitate activities on productivity, capacity, and cost improvements through use of lean and continuous improvement methodologies.
This role will work cross-functionally to execute change and lead/support teams/team leaders directed at strategic projects within plant operations.

The role will support the GPS Manager and Production Manager with direct influence on the company's ability to improve overall operations efficiencies to achieve supply chain and overall business performance goals.

The role will support the engineering department in preparing and commissioning capex related improvement projects.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Co-Pilot the Griffith Production System (GPS) program implementation.
  • Comprehensively identify and understand site losses and cost-loss linkage and set up manufacturing database, for productivity, efficiency, capacity. Work with site team to achieve loss elimination through GPS/Lean activities.
  • Implement the GPS toolkit to enhance quality and safety through 5S and standard work creating a culture of (food) safety within the site.
  • Coach and engage teams and frontline associates on full involvement in continuous improvement activities, enhancing fully involvement culture of lean and GPS.
  • Develop, deliver and lead the implementation of training tools and follow up of trained personnel.
  • Lead or co-pilot with project team to ensure successful implementation of site's improvement project. Provide coaching and training to engage frontline associates.
  • Prepare and lead KAIZEN activities.
  • Track KPI and identify bottlenecks and propose improvements through RCA's, fishbones, ...
  • Other tasks assigned by GPS manager.

Knowledge & experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, food industry, chemistry or equivalent required.
  • Data driven and analytical skills
  • Result-oriented go-getter with project management skills
  • Team builder with feeling for stakeholder and change management
  • A good understanding of Lean principles such as Value Stream Mapping, Just-In-Time, Demand Flow, Single Piece Flow, 5S, 8 waste, Visual Management, Total Productive Maintenance, Continuous Improvement Process, Kaizen, SPC, Six Sigma and Communication Tools, Problem Solving, RCA.
  • MS computer skills (excel, word, power point and outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with diverse groups of individuals and different levels.
