Position Summary:

Ensure that the necessary repairs to the building and conveyor systems are completed in a timely and organized manner within established policies and procedures.

  • Trouble shoot and repair conveyors, material handling equipment including overhead doors, dock levelers, trailer restrains.
  • Monitor the fire protection systems to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Trouble shoot, service and repair building equipment including; HVAC units, garbage compacting equipment, cardboard and plastic baling equipment, rolling steel fire doors, smoke detectors, fire alarm equipment, emergency generator, fire pumps, etc.
  • Repair and install plumbing equipment and fixtures.
  • Fabricate and install guarding.
  • Performing scheduled Preventative Maintenance on machinery and equipment.
  • Follow safety policies, procedures of Occupational Health & Safety Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, and WHMIS in the storage, handling and movement of product.
  • Work collaboratively as a team and assist other teams when required
  • Ability to cross train into other jobs with similar functional requirements.
  • Performs necessary housekeeping duties in order to maintain a clean, safe, organized work environment.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives.

Education/Experience (You Have):

  • Must be Red Seal certified as a Millwright, Electrician, or Instrumentation Technician
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience on conveyor systems (preferably Dematic) maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and blueprints.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is an asset
  • Trouble shooting skills in both mechanical and electrical control systems.
  • Must be experienced and well versed in preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in facilities maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to rebuild mechanical components such as gear reducers, motor bearing installation, etc.
  • Ability to train and instruct general maintenance team members, maintenance skills and methods.
  • Must be fluent in the English language with both written and oral skills.
  • Will be required to perform other job functions when requested to do so, such as plumbing, cleaning etc, as needed.
  • Ability to work in a position requiring:
    • Continuous standing and walking
    • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
    • Squatting, bending, stooping, grasping, pushing, pulling and lifting of pallets and product from floor to shoulder heights.
    • Working in a position requiring work at elevated heights.
    • Able to tolerate an environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and work around moving equipment.
  • Ability to safely meet performance expectations for quality, teamwork, productivity and housekeeping.
  • Must have a positive, winning attitude that contributes to a constructive teamwork environment
  • Demonstrated focus on "wowing" the customer with exceptional service.
