RESPONSIBILITIES

About the Role:

The SVP, IT Infrastructure Solutions provides executive leadership and strategic direction for the planning, engineering, architecture, administration, and technical oversight of GM Financial's enterprise infrastructure services. This senior leader oversees service operations across a broad ecosystem of platforms and technologies, including network and telecommunications, Windows / Linux / pSeries server environments, storage platforms, database engineering, and on-prem / public cloud services. In addition to operational accountability, the SVP leads the enterprise infrastructure engineering and architecture functions driving the design of scalable, resilient, secure, and automated infrastructure solutions that support GM Financial's business objectives. This role is responsible for shaping the long‑term technology roadmap, establishing engineering and architectural standards, and ensuring alignment with enterprise cloud, automation, and modernization strategies.

The SVP evaluates and diagnoses complex network, server, and cloud performance issues, recommending and implementing solutions to ensure all services operate at optimal capacity and reliability. They champion the adoption of automation frameworks, Infrastructure‑as‑Code practices, cloud‑native architectures, and modern operational models to increase efficiency, improve service delivery, and enhance system scalability. As a key member of the CTO senior leadership team, this role also collaborates closely with cybersecurity, application development, and business stakeholders to ensure infrastructure capabilities meet evolving enterprise needs.

Enterprise Infrastructure Strategy & Architecture

  • Direct end‑to‑end strategy, architecture, engineering, and operations for all infrastructure services, including network and telecommunications, compute platforms (Windows, Linux, pSeries), storage, database engineering, hybrid on‑prem and public cloud environments, and shared infrastructure services.
  • Establish and govern enterprise infrastructure architecture and engineering standards that drive scalability, performance, security, automation, and operational efficiency, while aligning with cloud, modernization, and platform engineering strategies.
  • Lead the design and execution of the enterprise hybrid and public cloud infrastructure strategy, including workload placement, cloud governance, guardrails, landing zones, and patterns appropriate for highly regulated financial workloads.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends, making informed recommendations on adoption or modernization that balance innovation, security, regulatory compliance, and operational stability.

Reliability, Resilience & Operational Excellence

  • Provide executive leadership and accountability for the availability, resilience, security, and regulatory compliance of GM Financial's enterprise infrastructure platforms supporting mission‑critical, "always on" business operations.
  • Own enterprise infrastructure resiliency and reliability outcomes, including service availability targets, RTO/RPO standards, disaster recovery readiness, capacity planning, and fault‑tolerant architecture across Tier 0 and Tier 1 platforms.
  • Establish and oversee enterprise service reliability management, including proactive monitoring, incident management, root cause analysis, and post‑incident remediation to ensure continuous improvement and reduced operational risk.
  • Champion automation‑first operating models, including Infrastructure‑as‑Code, configuration management, policy‑as‑code, self‑service platforms, and cloud‑native design patterns to improve stability, speed, and operational consistency.
  • Define, measure, and report infrastructure service performance metrics, including availability, capacity, recovery, automation coverage, and operational efficiency, ensuring transparency to executive leadership.
  • Serve as the accountable executive for infrastructure risk management and compliance, ensuring alignment with internal controls and regulatory requirements in partnership with Cybersecurity, Risk, and Compliance teams.

Financial, Vendor & Technology Stewardship

  • Lead infrastructure financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization across on‑prem and cloud environments, establishing cost transparency and ensuring investments align with business value and risk tolerance.
  • Own executive relationships and governance with strategic infrastructure, cloud, and telecommunications vendors, including contract negotiations, performance management, risk oversight, and influencing sourcing decisions.

Organizational Leadership, Collaboration & Executive Communication

  • Build and lead a high‑performing global organization of infrastructure architects, engineers, and operations leaders, including talent development, succession planning, and organizational maturity aligned to modern engineering practices.
  • Collaborate closely with application development, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and business leaders to ensure infrastructure capabilities enable business growth, customer experience, and regulatory obligations.
  • Provide executive‑level communication and reporting on infrastructure health, resiliency, risk posture, and strategic initiatives, supporting CTO briefings to senior leadership.


QUALIFICATIONS

What makes you a dream candidate?

  • Strong experience in progressive IT leadership, with significant responsibility for enterprise infrastructure architecture, engineering, and operations.
  • Demonstrated executive leadership experience in financial services or other highly regulated, mission‑critical industries supporting 24x7 operations.
  • Proven experience leading large, complex infrastructure organizations including hybrid on‑prem and public cloud platforms.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise infrastructure technologies, including compute platforms (Windows, Linux, UNIX, IBM pSeries), virtualization, storage, database platforms, networking, and telecommunications.
  • Strong architectural knowledge of hybrid and cloud infrastructure, including cloud governance models, landing zones, workload placement, and resiliency patterns suitable for regulated workloads.
  • Expertise in infrastructure resiliency and reliability engineering, including high‑availability design, disaster recovery, capacity planning, fault tolerance, and incident management for Tier 0 / Tier 1 platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Infrastructure‑as‑Code, automation frameworks, configuration management, and cloud‑native operational models.
  • In‑depth knowledge of security principles, infrastructure risk management, and secure‑by‑design architectures.
  • Strong working knowledge of IT security, regulatory, and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOX, ITIL, ISO).
  • Experience partnering with Risk, Compliance, Audit, and Cybersecurity teams to design, implement, and operate compliant infrastructure platforms.
  • Understanding of system security, data protection, business continuity, disaster recovery, and emergency preparedness, including physical security considerations.
  • Familiarity with North America and international regulatory environments affecting infrastructure and data platforms.
  • Proven ability to lead, scale, and mature large infrastructure organizations, including architecture, engineering, and operations functions.
  • Demonstrated success in building high‑performing leadership teams, developing talent, and establishing succession planning for critical roles.
  • Ability to define and implement modern operating models that balance speed, reliability, control, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong decision‑making skills in complex, high‑pressure environments involving enterprise risk and business impact.
  • Experience with infrastructure financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cost transparency, and cloud cost optimization.
  • Proven ability to manage and govern strategic vendor and service provider relationships, including contract negotiations, performance management, and risk oversight.
  • Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and sourcing models with a disciplined focus on business value, resilience, and risk.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear business impact and decision‑ready insights.
  • Demonstrated executive presence and experience presenting to senior leadership, executive committees, and Board‑level forums.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to influence technology, risk, security, and business organizations.
  • Customer‑focused mindset with the ability to balance service excellence, operational stability, and regulatory responsibility.
  • Strong grounding in IT service management and reliability practices, including ITIL, service level management, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience leading large‑scale, complex initiatives using disciplined program and project management practices.
  • Highly analytical, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple enterprise priorities simultaneously.

Experience

  • Greater than 10 years of progressively responsible experience in network engineering including extensive experience and technical knowledge in LAN's, WAN's, VPN's, server and desktop management required
  • 8+ years of experience supervising technical teams required
  • 8+ years of project management experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required
