Tower Internals Engineering Manager
Job Description Summary
The Tower Internals Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading the Tower Internals design engineering team on Engineering NPI, cost out, productivity, transactional, and fleet support efforts for the GEV Wind Mechanical Subsystem. In this role you will work across the Engineering Functions to identify strategic growth areas and issue resolutions for the Tower Internals Engineering design team. The Tower Internals design engineering team works in close collaboration with the Tower Structures design engineering team to execute on the release of tower kits (drawings, BoM, and parts).

Essential Responsibilities
As the Tower Internals Engineering Manager you will:
• Lead a global team of Engineers in all Tower Internals design aspects and scope, make decisions on critical subsystem trade-offs, and coordinate with the other Engineering functions to identify and leverage natural synergies amongst the teams.

• Create and maintain a culture of ownership & accountability of full lifecycle design of components and subsystems (e.g. NPI designs, supplier PAPPs, manufacturability, fleet support, pitch bearing cost) that results in high quality tower designs for both external and internal customers.
• Own Tower Internals risks identification, quantification, and mitigation, including clear communication, prioritization, and risk mitigation execution plans.
• Manage product requirements definition and requirements flow down including communication with the outcome of optimized and competitive product offerings.
• Enforce prompt lessons learned incorporation into designs, design practices, and design methodologies.
• Develop and own next generation technical product roadmap
• Lead technical conversations with suppliers, customers, and other third parties as a representative of GEV Wind and the Towers Engineering team
• Recruit, hire, and coach Tower Internals design team towards continuous improvement and engineering excellence, focusing on safety, quality, delivery, and cost
• Be accountable for team budget for T&L, training, and SW&L expenses
• Ensure all design / analysis documentation is complete and accurate, e.g. Specifications, Design Practices, Bill of Materials (BOM)
• Work cross-functionally with Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Quality on supplier qualifications, NCRs, supplier deviation dispositioning and all technical issues related to Towers.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physics or related degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in an engineering or technical position
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a technical leadership or people management
- Demonstrated ability to accommodate for fast pace projects and changes in work scopes.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Legal authorization to work in the United States is required. We will not sponsor work visas, now or in the future, for this position opening
Desired Characteristics
- Wind Towers or Welded Fabrications engineering design and/or validation experience
- Technical leadership experience including NPI, NTI development, problem solving & RCA resolution, method/tool development, and related items.
- Demonstrated systems thinker: ability to assess tradeoffs, effectively assess risk, and optimize results.
- Proven ability to drive process improvement, implement standard work, and utilize Lean operating principles.
- Strategic thinker - able to navigate complexity, develop clear actions, and drive impact.

- Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration from an accredited college or university.

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes
For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $131,700.00 and $219,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
