Job Description Summary
We are seeking a motivated Technical Leader who will oversee the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems within wind turbine towers. This role requires deep mechanical engineering expertise, wind turbine technology/installation and service knowledge, and the ability to lead a team of engineers (from entry to senior engineers). The Technical Leader will drive innovation, ensure compliance with industry standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality yet simple mechanical solutions.
Job Description
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the conceptualization, design, and prototyping of mechanical components and systems using engineering principles.
- Utilize CAD software and other engineering tools to create detailed designs and simulations when needed.
- Conduct feasibility studies and perform risk assessments for new designs.
- Standardize analysis and calculation methodologies for towers mechanical components.
- Implement and maintain quality assurance processes for mechanical systems.
- Develop and oversea thorough testing and validation of designs to ensure reliability and performance.
- Address and resolve any technical issues or defects identified during testing phases.
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines (mainly electrical and structural) to ensure integrated solutions.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to senior management and clients.
- Ensure all designs and processes comply with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., IEC, ISO).
- Ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in regulations and standards affecting wind turbine mechanical systems.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in wind turbine mechanical systems.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery meeting product requirement.
- Provide technical leadership in the design and analysis of mechanical systems/components for wind turbine tower internals.
- Strong knowledge and experience in FEM (Finite element Method)

- Teamwork: developing a tower design is significantly dependent on teams outside towers engineering. Openness to onboard new ideas, feedback and improvement is critical to practice one team spirit.
- Proactiveness and energy: proactive, motivated and positive, are these skills are contagious and are critical as part of this role while technically leading a team of different expertise level.
- Communication: able to communicate clearly and factually
- Linguistic: advanced/fluent in English, Spanish is a plus
Minimum educational requirement:
- Bachelor's degree of mechanical engineering.
- Min 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, wind energy expertise prioritized/highly evaluated.
- Track record of mechanical design development and validation
