Job Description Summary

Grid Automation offers its customers a complete range of innovative products, systems and services covering engineering and manufacture, as well as commissioning and long-term maintenance of Substation Protection Systems and Automation solutions.

Grid Automation Technical Applications Engineers (TAE) support the Commercial Team in the co-ordination and execution of commercial and technical activities relating to the Grid Automation Business in the Region.

The successful candidate will be part of a sub-regional South Europe TAE team supporting the commercial teams in all technical activities relating to Grid Automation in South Europe, but with particular focus in Romania, Greece, Bulgaria, Albania, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Review, analyze, and resolve customer application inquiries using sound engineering principles and in line with business standards, procedures, product requirements, and deadlines.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers on the full range of Grid Automation products, with a focus on protection systems, digital control systems, network management, and cybersecurity.
  • Support customers by phone, in meetings, and through site visits as needed.
  • Assist the Commercial/Sales team in identifying the best technical solutions, promoting products, delivering presentations, supporting technical negotiations, and preparing formal tenders for Grid Automation products and solutions based on customer requirements.
  • Deliver customer training and technical sessions on the application and operation of Grid Automation products and services.
  • Attend trade shows, seminars, and conferences as required.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a customer-facing engineering role.
  • Experience in cybersecurity, preferably in OT environments.
  • Strong knowledge of substation control system applications in the Transmission & Distribution sector.
  • Experience with IEC 61850-based substation automation solutions is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of substation protection, substation automation, and RTUs, with the ability to support customers in selecting and implementing the best GE solution for their needs.
  • Experience with network protocols, HMI systems, and software packages is highly desirable.
  • Ability to analyze specific applications and prepare technical reports.
  • Commercial awareness and business acumen.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Language skills in English, Romanian, and Serbo-Croatian are required; Greek is an advantage for written and verbal customer communication.
