Job Description Summary
As Systems Engineering manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of system engineers responsible for System Studies, System Design, System Requirements, and System Integration across the HVDC, FACTS, and ACS portfolios. You will provide strategic and technical leadership, ensuring high-quality system-level engineering solutions, robust technical governance, and effective people and capability development aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of engineers across System Studies, Design, Requirements, and Integration disciplines.
- Define and execute a clear vision and operating model for the Systems Engineering organization in alignment with the GSI Engineering strategy.
- Drive a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Technical Governance
- Ensure consistent and high-quality delivery of system-level engineering deliverables, including performance studies, specifications, models, and integration plans.
- Oversee system architecture and technical interfaces between disciplines (e.g., control, primary, secondary, software, and protection).
- Provide guidance and review for project-critical design decisions, ensuring technical compliance with standards and customer requirements.
- Project & Portfolio Execution
- Support bid and project execution phases by defining system-level concepts and integration strategies.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams, project management, and supply chain to ensure smooth system integration and handover to commissioning.
- Drive design standardization, digital engineering tools, and best practices across HVDC, FACTS, and ACS domains.
- People & Capability Development
- Build strong succession and competency plans for all Systems Engineering subfunctions.
- Promote talent growth through coaching, technical training, and cross-project exposure.
- Attract and retain high-performing engineers with a focus on diversity and inclusion.
- Stakeholder Management
- Partner closely with NPI, Tendering, and Regional teams to ensure alignment on technical strategy and resource deployment.
- Represent Systems Engineering in internal and external technical forums, customer meetings, and audits.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical or Power Systems Engineering (or related discipline). PhD preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in system-level engineering for power transmission projects, preferably including HVDC and FACTS systems.
- Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams or functions in a matrix, global organization.
- Deep understanding of system studies (load flow, transient stability, harmonics, EMT), control and protection concepts, and system integration challenges.
- Strong communication and influencing skills across multi-disciplinary and multicultural environments.
- Demonstrated ability to drive standardization, process improvement, and innovation.
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in large EPC environments.
- Familiarity with industry standards (IEC, IEEE, CIGRE).
- Exposure to digital tools (e.g., PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, DIgSILENT PowerFactory) and model-based systems engineering approaches.
- Passion for developing people and enabling the next generation of technical leaders.
