As Supplier Quality Manager you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, be involved in long-term planning, contribute to the overall strategy, and manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise. In this role, you will lead a team of Supplier Quality Engineers in their execution of supplier development and monitoring activities.

Job Description

Essential responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct the global 'Controls' Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) activities in support of the Gas Power business.
  • Lead and coach team with a focus on a culture of people development, flexibility, capability growth and effective collaboration.
  • Assign work activities and provide direction for employees and assist in their professional and technical development.
  • Manage SQE resources to provide technical guidance to Controls supplier base globally to assure product and process compliance with engineering drawings and specifications and GE Vernova Gas power QMS
  • Facilitate the engagement of other global supplier quality resources to meet business and customer needs
  • Manage the supplier qualification process and supplier surveillance process
  • Work effectively with commercial, sourcing, engineering and manufacturing teams to eliminate any barriers that may affect the quality and delivery of sourced components
  • Monitor supplier non-conformance performance, and drive root-cause analysis (RCA), corrective actions and process improvements to reduce the escaping defects and cost of failure.
  • Actively participate in supplier recovery efforts by managing technical issue information, and ensuring SQE resources provide support for Cost of Failure Recovery
  • Set team quality objectives and goals that are aligned with those of the business. Manage achievement of those objective through active KPI monitoring and initiatives development as needed
  • Drive process consistency and adherence to Global Sourcing quality procedures
  • Drive continuous improvement and 'Lean' activities across the Controls SQE team and supplier base


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics / Electrical engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 15 years professional experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of sourcing or quality management experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of People Leader experience or demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience in manufacturing of Power Plant / Automation Control Cabinets
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required (up to 50 %)


Desired Qualifications:

  • Post Graduate in Electrical / Electronics engineering or Master of Business Administration
  • Experience in manufacturing / field experience with GE Mark VIe, EX2100, Static starter panels
  • Experience with electronics component manufacturing, especially PCBAs, HMIs, Wire Harnesses, networking switches
  • Knowledge of IPC standards
  • Knowledge of TRS (Technical Regulations & Standards) compliance requirements such as IEC, CE, UL, CSA
  • Proven leadership ability, especially regarding performance development and coaching
  • Certified RCA Leader
  • Certified SRG Auditor (GEV internal candidates)
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Experience with manufacturing process control
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong financial, quantitative and data analysis skills
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills
  • Ability to motivate in a cross-functional, multi-site, team environment
  • Ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
