Job Description Summary

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you are responsible and accountable for a wide range of supplier quality-related activities, including supplier approval and qualification, managing surveillance and inspections as per ITPL, reviewing and approving EoMRs, triggering and leading problem-solving missions, and leading supplier development programs.
You will ensure quality within assigned suppliers, overseeing quality plan implementation and qualifying new suppliers. This role manages supplier performance by utilizing scorecards, driving improvements, and overseeing audits to ensure compliance and implement necessary improvement plans. You should possess knowledge of best practices and how this role integrates with other functions, understanding market competition and differentiators. A key part of this role is championing lean initiatives at supplier sites, collaborating with lean leaders and supporting GE Vernova lean programs.
You are expected to establish yourself as a subject matter expert by demonstrating the ability to work with stakeholders and suppliers to improve manufacturing processes, identify risks, proactively react to supplier escapes, and manage supplier approvals and product qualifications.
The ability to travel required approximately 40%

Job Description

Your accountabilities can be described as follows:

Accountabilities: Description

Execute Qualification tasks: Manage supplier qualification activities, including following the plan, coaching suppliers, and overseeing on-site execution.

Manage inspections: Adhere to ITPLs and manage inspections (which may be waived or outsourced to 3rd parties). Includes documentation and parts inspection.

Review EoMRs: Review all documentation coming from the manufacturing phase.

Manage NCRs and 8Ds: Ensure timely closure of NCRs. Collaborate with suppliers and engineering on disposition and CAPAs. Coach suppliers on effective Problem solving.

Support Customer audits: Pre-audit suppliers, prepare supplier for customer audits

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in Strategic Sourcing reviews for Blades, Blade Bars, and Diaphragms, supporting the Blade Qualification Coordinator. Ensure quality risks, qualification needs, and On-Time Delivery (OTD) risks are identified and resolved.
  • Align with key commodity managers to identify and lead supplier development programs that continuously enhance supplier performance and optimize the supplier base.
  • Lead both Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Development initiatives, including supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and guiding key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence.
  • SQEs differentiate based on their technical understanding of engineering drawings and vendor management capabilities.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of Blades, Blade Bars, and Diaphragms, along with other relevant technical disciplines and analytical thinking, to execute policy and strategy.
  • Possess foundational knowledge of related job disciplines.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.
  • Explain complex information and develop skills to foster consensus among team members on topics within their field.
  • Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Fluent in English.
  • Certified ISO 9001-2015 Auditor, Certified Quality Engineer
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Design or Quality Engineering .
  • 7+ years experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality or Strategic Sourcing.
  • 5+ years experience in Blades, Blade Bars, and Diaphragms Commodities.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding technical drawings, specifications, and standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and convey key messaging across all organizational levels, departments, and functions
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional matrix environment; international team experience.
  • Experience in product data management and ERP tools (OneSteam ERP (SAP), PowerNow NCR, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, RPDM (Engineering database))
  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen and ability to perform cost assessments and analysis.
  • Knowledgeable in 8D Methodology, Lean, Statistical Process Control, NCR management, FMEA, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), ISO9001; ISO14001; OHSAS18001.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and resolve problems
