Job Description Summary

As the Principal Data Scientist, you will work with experienced software solution and delivery teams who passionately believe in developing and delivering Advance Engineering Solutions that maximize outcomes for our customers.

Advance Digital Solutions responsible for the design, development, and delivery of solutions that deviate from standard product portfolio and require significant customization and product roadmap alignment. RDS services offerings are broadly classified into Integration and Migration solutions. Integration solution offers software and analytics development for industry specific customization such as process solutions as well as bringing unified user experience connecting GE and non-ge applications. Migration solutions focused on resolving non-standard platform and data migration.
The team works in close partnership with the customers and the product development team to bridge the gap between customer requirements and standard products. RDS delivers tomorrow's solution today for our key customers.

Key outcome of RDS is in extending the value of current product portfolio and customizing based on unique needs, Development of new digital solution that does not currently exist in product portfolio. Enables GE providing a one-stop shop for standard and custom solutions. Provide digital expertise to support customer's team and build internal capability.

In this role, you will closely work with customers to understand and define their requirements, develop technical proposals and implement GE Vernova digital solutions. You will act as the technical expert in data science and predictive analytics contributing to software implementations, customizations, upgrades, and integration projects ensuring customer satisfaction while balancing scope versus project time and resource commitments.

The successful candidate will have an accomplished record of success in development, customization, integration of machine learning and AI software solutions in a power plant or process industry setting for understanding and optimizing asset performance, plant operations and maintenance strategy.

Job Description

In this role, you will:

  • You will act as a technical expert on predictive analytics and machine learning / AI digital technologies for the organization, coordinating cross-organizationally and independently mentoring peers. This role requires deep domain knowledge in the application of these technologies to power plants and process industries.

    In this role, you will -
  • Develop, verify, and validate analytics to address customer needs on current implementations as well as evolving opportunities
  • Work as part of a cross-functional implementation team to translate algorithms into customized analytics or products to support customer needs.
  • Work in technical teams in development, deployment, and application of applied analytics, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics.
  • Perform exploratory and targeted data analyses using descriptive statistics and other methods.
  • Own the data quality assessment, data cleansing and data analytics. Communicate methods, findings, and hypotheses with stakeholders.
  • Provide expert knowledge and experience to collaborate with the customer to convert business requirement to technical requirements, work with technical leader or director to estimate the technical effort required to implement complex software solutions, support in tender reviews and the development of scope of work.
  • Drive technical analysis activities, such as requirements gathering and gap analysis of user requirements. find ways to bridge the gap through configuration, customization or enhancements.
  • Contribute to the definition of GE Vernova Products and Solution architecture and development of detailed design specifications.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers throughout the project to identify and scope application changes and propose solutions to help project manager determine the strategy and drive the change management process.
  • The candidate must have the ability to analyze the data collected, participate in failure analysis (RCM, FMEA), make recommendations based on the findings and integrate these recommendations into the products or solutions being implemented.
  • Participate in RCM/FMEA sessions and working with internal stakeholders / external customers to successfully implement these recommendations in their work management system.
  • Train the client on work processes, software implementation of the work process and the application of the work process
  • Work with cross-functional teams as required for the solution and implement processes to ensure best use of GE Vernova Digital Products and Services to meet project requirements.
  • Engage throughout the full lifecycle of assigned projects, influencing decisions on architecture, design and functionality to keep projects on track in terms of budget, time, and customer expectations.
  • Follow technical review processes and provide insights for product enhancements.
  • Maintain strong customer relational and communication skills.
  • Participate in onsite workouts and develop technical presentations for internal and external customer.
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with team members, customers, and leadership.
  • Effective apply GE Vernova execution methodology and project standards• Maintain & continuously update technical skills and knowledge.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, technical, or scientific discipline. (Masters+ is preferred)
  • 12+ years' experience in software development, implementation related to software modules with machine learning and AI
  • Demonstrated skill in data management methods and analytic scaling
  • Demonstrated skill in prescriptive analytics and analytic prototyping
  • Demonstrated skill in solutions integration over cloud or on-prem architectures
  • Excellent knowledge of power plants and process industry operations, instrumentation and controls, plant performance calculations.
  • Experience in RMC/FMEA facilitation and building asset strategies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills a must.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical projects.
  • Strong spoken and written English language skills
  • Ability to develop project tools and templates to facilitate ease of implementation
  • Ability to articulate GE's value proposition to customers

Desired Characteristics :

  • Demonstrated expertise in the use of one or more of latest analytic software tools or packages (e.g., Python, R, etc.). Programming experience with open source scripting and other data analysis packages
  • Demonstrated expertise in data modeling, feature engineering, and the development and application of descriptive, applied, and predictive analytics on industrial data sets
  • Demonstrated expertise in data science methodologies, technology and industry trends
  • Demonstrated expertise in data visualization and storytelling to translate complex data into customer insights
  • Strong analytics skills with expertise in machine learning, statistical analysis, signal processing and data mining. Demonstrated skill in prescriptive analytics and analytic productization
  • Understanding of industrial equipment, processes and energy network operations, especially in the areas of power plants, transmission & distribution domain
  • Hands on experience with data management methods, analytics deployment and orchestration tools, database technologies and visualization tools for customer facing software applications
  • Proven track record of Innovation and IP generation
  • Strong customer mindset and ability to understand commercial and product strategy.
  • Demonstrates awareness of important current trends affecting the industries that GEV Vernova operates in
  • Experience working effectively on multiple outcome-focused commercial solutions simultaneously
  • Domain expertise in power generation, transmission & distribution space with broad understanding of energy products and services
  • Proactively engages with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and design solutions using critical thinking and analytics skills and best practices by actively incorporating input from various sources
  • Demonstrated expertise working in dynamic global team settings in prior roles
  • Demonstrated expertise in critical thinking and problem solving methods
  • Continuous improvement oriented - actively generates process improvements and drives change initiatives working in ambiguous environments
  • Must be a team player with a strong desire to win. Highly organized and efficient; able to balance competing priorities and execute accordingly
