Job Description Summary

The Software Architecture & Development Lead will define and drive the software architecture strategy for internal automation platforms supporting Engineering (Protection & Control, SCADA, IEC 61850), Project Management, and Operations. This role will develop scalable tools, APIs, and data architectures that eliminate manual activities, accelerate project execution, and enhance quality and traceability across mission-critical workflows. Acting as a technical leader, the role will ensure reliability, cybersecurity compliance, and continuous improvement through modern DevOps practices.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Define software architecture and development standards for automation tools supporting Grid Automation engineering and delivery teams.
  • Lead development of automation platforms and scripting solutions (Python, Rust, C#, Node.js, etc.) to reduce cycle time and eliminate repetitive tasks.
  • Integrate engineering tools with corporate systems (Smartsheet, Jira, SAP, GitHub, DOORS, relay configuration tools).
  • Design and deploy scalable APIs and microservices for critical workflows such as:
    • relay settings validation
    • file parsing and data extraction
    • automated reporting and documentation
  • Establish CI/CD pipelines, secure coding practices, automated testing, and reliable DevOps processes.
  • Architect data models and storage solutions for engineering artifacts, test evidence, and project traceability.
  • Promote modular design, component reuse, and creation of shared internal libraries.
  • Lead code reviews, mentor developers, and build technical capabilities within engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with AI/LLM teams to integrate intelligent automation into engineering digital assistants and copilots.
  • Ensure high performance, maintainability, scalability, and utility-grade cybersecurity compliance across all developed software.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.

Professional Experience

  • Professional experience in software development and architecture.
  • Experience leading end-to-end software delivery in technical or industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated success in automating engineering or industrial workflows strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages (Python mandatory; Rust, C#, Node.js highly desirable).
  • Experience with microservices architecture and API design.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.).
  • Experience with secure DevOps practices and cybersecurity controls.
  • Familiarity with data modeling, relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience integrating systems via REST/GraphQL APIs and enterprise connectors.
  • Understanding of SCADA, Protection & Control, and IEC 61850 workflows is a strong advantage.

Languages

  • Fluent English and Portuguese required
  • Spanish proficiency preferred
