Job Description Summary

The Commissioning coordinator is expected to be a high-performance worker in all aspects of Commissioning activities, such as documentation creation (procedures and reports), technical skills to perform tests at site, schedule and cost control, commissioning site team coordination, site workload coordination, vendors/suppliers/subcontractors' management, remote technical support, commissioning planning and preparation, and execution of that plan. Reporting to the Commissioning Leader, the Commissioning coordinator will be an active part of the project performance, defining the standard to others in terms of professionalism and interpersonal skills.

Reporting to the Commissioning Leader, the Commissioning coordinator will be an active part of the project performance, defining the standard to others in terms of professionalism and interpersonal skills.

Essential Responsibilities

Tendering phase:

• Providing support with technical expertise when required to drive high level accuracy proposal delivery.

• Analyze specification & participate in Base of Scope definition;

• Determine strategy pertaining to labor, scheduling, logistics, conditions, etc.;

Preparation and planning phase:

• Support the project execution team on commissioning matters;

• Technical governance and customer relations on commissioning matters;

• Ensure on-time delivery of documentation, procedures & reports;

• Contribute to overall quality and excellence in execution of installation & commissioning;

• Create, understand and manage the commissioning workload and its impact to the overall project in terms of cost, quality and schedule;

• Create, understand and manage vendors, suppliers and subcontractors related to commissioning scope.

Execution phase:

• Ensure work is performed safely according with GE standards and local requirements;

• Ability to navigate and control a fully Commissioning resource loaded schedule (MSP and/or Primavera);

• Strong partnership with the Project Directors and Contract Managers for overall project strategy/performance;

• Perform instrument functionality verification at site;

• Responsible for the start-up of the various auxiliaries' system;

• Perform the commissioning of the turbine & generator including vibration analysis and balancing;

• Coordination of acceptance test as per IEEE115 on synchronous Generators.

• Work with the field instrumentation technician to plan and support the pre-commissioning effort;

• Provide support to the site teams regarding the technical issues or challenges;

• Perform LOTO and safety preparations as required by the commissioning tests;

• Keep good records about site activities, work performed, issues faced and how they were dealt with (non-conformity) to provide feedback to business and support it with information in case of claims;

• Collaborate in resolving complex problems.

• Work together with planners and project managers/directors to make sure project schedule reflects the commissioning activities correctly and, with that, create and manage the overall commissioning workload control and, therefore, commissioning cost-to-complete (CTC) for a given project.

• Submit in a timely manner expense reports, timesheets, daily reports, NCR, SRS, reports and any other documentation to set an example to the rest of the team;

• Be able to coordinate balancing of the unit, special field tests, signature tests and acceptance tests at site;

• Proactive engagement in R&O assessment, able to drive outside-the-box opportunities to execution, as well as effectively mitigate/eliminate risks.

• Analyze needs across multiple projects and execute what is in the business' best interests.

• Be the voice of the company at site when required for commissioning related topics.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience;

• Between 3 to 5 years' experience in Hydroelectric power plants including commissioning coordination at site for projects delivery.

• Strong EHS culture.

• Be available for work on project sites in Canada and US;

• Good understanding of electro-mechanical systems;

• Ability to multitask and shift between many different projects and initiatives with tight deadlines;

• Excellent interpersonal skills, team work skills and autonomy;

• Strong customer service orientation;

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and have good computer skills;

• Ability to navigate cross-functions and create a good rapport with other teams (Project Management, Engineering, Finance, Fleet Support, EHS, HR, etc.);

• Ability to comply with mandatory requests on time, such as: trainings, timesheets, expense reports, daily reports, etc.;

• Understand and implement, when required, cost and schedule control for commissioning scope;

• Must be proficient in English;

• Resilience.

Desired Characteristics:

• French as a second language considered an asset;

• Understanding and knowledge of IEEE 115 considered an asset;

• Electrical or mechanical installation experience considered an asset.

For candidates applying to a Canadian-based position, the pay range for this position is between $ 104,900.00 and 154,900.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus
