The Combined Cycle Steam Turbine Engineering team is seeking a Structures Design Engineer to support the design, analysis, and delivery of critical steam turbine components, with a focus on large cast shells and packing heads. In this role, you will contribute across the product lifecycle supporting requisition execution, product improvements, manufacturability, and fielded fleet needs.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
What you'll do
- Perform mechanical design activities and stress analysis for steam turbine components, with specific focus on design considerations related to large cast shells, packing heads, bolted joints, sealing features, and fit-up interfaces.
- Support steam turbine requisition and services projects by executing design tasks, incorporating technical inputs, and delivering quality engineering outputs on schedule.
- Develop design solutions for technical issues affecting factory operations, suppliers, and customer applications.
- Apply knowledge of steam turbine design, large cast components, and manufacturing processes to improve component performance, quality, cost, serviceability, and installation.
- Partner with the manufacturing and Global Supply Chain to drive producibility, quality, and cost-out initiatives for large structural castings and associated hardware.
- Support design changes, drawing updates, and engineering documentation to enable accurate manufacturing and service execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including steampath, systems, manufacturing, sourcing, field service, and project engineering to resolve technical challenges and support customer commitments.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university or college.
- Demonstrated experience or foundational knowledge in mechanical component design, manufacturing support, or structural/mechanical analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with steam turbine architecture and major component interfaces.
- Familiarity of manufacturing processes, machining, tolerancing, and producibility considerations for large components.
- Ability to work effectively across functions and with teams in global locations.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to develop practical, high-quality engineering solutions.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Customer-focused mindset with a strong commitment to quality, execution, and continuous improvement.
