Senior Technical Writer
Job Description Summary
The Senior Technical Writer is responsible for providing subject matter expertise and leadership to a project support team of Technical Writers tasked with providing support to, and collaborating with, Engineers to produce new and existing technical specifications, reports, manuals, presentations, procedures, and other documents in support of new commercial nuclear reactor projects for GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH). This includes technical document reviews for formatting and adherence to document standards. This individual will additionally support in other areas of Documentation Management and Configuration Management, including but not limited to Requirements Management, Records Management and Change Management.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expertise and leadership to a project support team
- Provide technical writing support to, and updates for, new and existing assigned documentation
- Collaborate with subject matter experts in the creation and implementation of documentation
- Develop documents that are organized, succinct, and compliant to standards and requirements
- Edit and manage technical documentation in support of business products creating documentation that is complete and accurate
- Manage review and approval of documents including comment resolution
- Prioritize, organize, and complete multiple activities, meeting established deadlines; relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish activities
- Ensure project deliverables are executed on time with high quality
- Work to project schedules and provide status updates
- Collect, analyze, and compile information from various resources, including approved AI, for use in creation or editing of procedures, reports, and documents
- Become familiar with applicable products, services, concepts, practices, requirements, and procedures
- Create, manage, and maintain sites, libraries, repositories, workflows and publications
- Perform requirements traceability and publishing support
- Support related activities in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and the Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) systems
- Perform training, coaching and development to other team members
- Facilitate team meetings and knowledge sharing sessions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required (Education, Technical Communication, Engineering, or related field preferred)
- 10 years of experience developing instructional, technical, or procedural content in academic or industrial settings
- Minimum 4 years of experience in technical writing for the commercial nuclear industry
Eligibility Requirements
- The preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered.
- This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

- Strong skills and knowledge using Adobe Acrobat Professional or DC.
- Strong skills with graphics software, including Visio and Adobe Photoshop.
- Strong organizational skills, project execution skills, and detail oriented.
- Ability to manage time and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude. Energetic problem-solver capable of handling multiple tasks and priorities. Must be able to work with little supervision.
- Experience leading others and assignment of work activities
- Experience with Requirements Management and Product Lifecycle Management systems, and their processes related to technical writing
- Experience as a technical writer in the nuclear industry, national labs, or governmental agencies in a high-tech field.
- Experience with GE documentation system, practices, and requirements.
- Experience with documentation management protocols in a high-tech, regulated environment.
- Familiarity with US NRC Regulatory Guides (RG).
- Familiarity with system and software standards (ASME, IEEE, IEC, etc.).
- Familiarity with Documentum, Aconex, Enovia, Teamcenter, ELM and VNDLY
- Demonstrated proficiency in using computer applications.
- Experience in word processing, presentation packages, databases, and spreadsheet packages.
- Proficient with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; familiarity with Adobe software to be able to create/modify PDF files

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $127,700.00 and $212,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
