Job Description Summary
In this role, the Senior Machining and Tooling Engineer - Advanced Manufacturing and Repair Technology (AMRT) will lead the development, industrialization, optimization, and global deployment of machining and tooling processes and technologies for the gas turbine repair services network and new make supply chain. This individual will serve as a recognized technical expert, driving advanced conventional and non-conventional machining solutions that improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and capacity across a wide range of industrial gas turbine components. The Senior Engineer will work across global sites, cross-functional teams, and external suppliers to establish robust manufacturing standards, solve complex technical challenges, and enable contractual services productivity, transactional services growth, and new unit growth.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Lead the development, validation, industrialization, and global implementation of advanced machining processes and tooling technologies across the repair services network and new make supply chain. These projects will include NPI (new product introduction), PCO (product cost out), and Globalization.

• Serve as a subject matter expert in machining and tooling, providing technical direction and guidance for complex manufacturing challenges involving both conventional and non-conventional machining processes (including complex 5-axis CNC milling, grinding, EDM, etc.).
• Define and drive manufacturing strategies that improve process capability, reduce cycle time and cost, increase capacity, and enhance product quality across global sites.
• Lead the design, development, fabrication, qualification, and deployment of fixtures, tooling, and machining solutions in collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers while aligning with operational and capital budgets.
• Establish, standardize, and globalize best practices, process controls, tooling standards, standard work and technical work instructions to ensure repeatability and scalability across service centers and new make facilities.
• Drive root cause analysis, process optimization, and continuous improvement efforts using lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving methodologies to improve operational performance.
• Evaluate and implement equipment, tooling, and process upgrades from concept through business case development, procurement, installation, validation, and handoff to operations.
• Conduct technical and financial assessments for process, tooling, and equipment investments, including cost/benefit analysis, risk evaluation, and return on investment considerations.
• Partner closely with Sourcing, Repair Value Stream, Design Engineering, Materials Engineering, Systems, Quality, EHS, and site operations to ensure successful execution of manufacturing initiatives.
• Influence technical and program decisions by recommending solutions that balance manufacturability, quality, delivery, cost, and long-term business needs.
• Lead high-impact projects with responsibility for scope, schedule, technical execution, risk mitigation, stakeholder communication, and achievement of business objectives.
• Provide clear and effective communication of technical strategy, project status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership at all levels of the organization.
• Ensure all machining and tooling processes meet required engineering, quality, productivity, and safety standards for implementation across the global network.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, process specifications, validation records, and engineering deliverables in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Mentor, coach, and develop less experienced engineers and technical personnel within the global organization and throughout the repair network; help build organizational capability in machining and tooling disciplines.
• Support the identification and maturation of emerging manufacturing technologies that can create competitive advantage for the business.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field or a minimum of 15 years of experience in machining, tooling, or a related field within the manufacturing industry.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in machining, tooling, or a related field within the manufacturing industry.
Desired Qualifications:
• Recognized technical expert with significant experience developing and implementing machining and tooling solutions in a manufacturing or repair environment.
• Demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills with a passion for developing technical talent across the organization.
• Demonstrated experience leading technically complex projects from concept through industrialization and operational deployment.
• Experience in complex 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining applications including Milling, Grinding, & EDM.
• Deep knowledge of gas turbine components, their function, and key manufacturing and repair considerations.
• Demonstrated experience industrializing and implementing complex machining solutions within manufacturing environments.
• Deep experience in fixture and tooling development, including conceptual design, detailed design, fabrication, prove-out, and production implementation.
• Proven ability to adopt and adapt standardization (standard work, work instructions, project management tools, etc.) in the work place through implementation and continuous improvement.
• Proven ability to serve as a technical guide or subject matter expert for complex manufacturing initiatives with broad business impact.
• Experience developing scalable and standardized manufacturing processes for deployment across multiple sites or global operations.
• Proficiency in CAD & CAM software such as NX.
• Experience with adaptive machining technology.
• Experience with machining simulation software and digital manufacturing tools.
• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies, including standard work, kaizen, structured problem solving, and the 3-gen principle.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical and operational data to identify trends, assess process performance, and drive improvements.
• Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and align teams around technical solutions and business priorities.
• Strong project management skills, including managing multiple complex initiatives, driving execution to schedule, and working within budget constraints.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience supporting capital equipment justification, procurement, installation, and qualification.
• Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, cross-functional, and global environment.
• Proven abilities to lead through ambiguity; showcasing flexibility and resilience in managing changing priorities in a dynamic business environment.
• Awareness and sensitivity to working in a global environment with diverse teams and cultures.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
