Job Description

As a Senior Project Manager within GE Power Conversion & Storage you will be responsible for leading either one major project or a portfolio of projects, delivering critical systems for external customers in a safe, structured, efficient, and timely manner. Our projects are diverse, so you will lead multi-disciplinary project teams to design and implement highly customized, bespoke solutions.

  • Leading multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver mission-critical multi-million projects to external customers, from inquiry from sales team to final delivery & commissioning.

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for customers, building effective working relationships and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Making effective use of best practice project management techniques throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Providing leadership, support and guidance to your project team within a matrix organisation, creating clarity on objectives and promoting effective collaboration with all stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Embracing the GE lean transformation within the business and deploying this actively within the project management context.
  • Proactively driving progress against schedule and budget and acting as the focal point for the project review process to report out status.
  • Being responsible for the project financial performance, supported by our finance team, and being the focal point for our project review process to report progress and forecasts against targets.

Essential qualifications:

  • Substantial experience of delivering integrated system engineering projects end-to-end in a commercial contracting environment with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Degree level qualifications in an engineering or scientific field or equivalent experience.
  • Project management training and certification (PMP, Chartered PM status, etc.)
  • Data-driven approach for the purpose of reporting, forecasting and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent communication and influencing abilities with an ability to navigate internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to travel on an occasional / short term basis when required, for example: to customer, supplier, or job site locations (UK & overseas).
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, and Microsoft Project.
  • Full UK driving license.

Nice to have:

  • Previous projects experience in an Industrial Power Systems domain (for example rotating machinery, variable speed drives, power storage and distribution, industrial control and automation).
  • Experience in the use of SAP.
  • Experience of construction industry standard forms of contract (for example FIDIC, NEC).

This role involves work for customers who manage critical infrastructure; based on customer requirements it will be necessary to carry out background checks and suitability assessments (UK BPSS clearance OR UK SC clearance) as part of the hiring process.
