Senior Principal Engineer - High Voltage Engineering
Job Description Summary
As a senior technical leader, you will play a critical role in originating, developing, and implementing cutting-edge high voltage electronics technologies, advanced insulation and dielectric systems, and high-power conversion solutions for GE Vernova's systems in our businesses including Power, Wind, and Electrification. You will develop technology and product roadmaps and collaborate with cross-functional teams, government agencies (DOE and DOD), and industry partners to advance the state-of-the-art in high voltage electronics and ensure the performance, safety, reliability, and efficiency of our systems. You will shape and foster strategic collaborations with Universities and strategic technology / business / external partners to drive innovative high voltage electronics solutions for GE Vernova.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will lead and contribute to the planning, development, and transition of technologies from concept to products and/or services for GE internal and external clients. You will:
- Provide technical leadership and expertise in high voltage electronics, power conversion, insulation and dielectric systems, and high-power switching technologies to develop and implement innovative solutions that enhance system performance, efficiency, safety, and reliability.
- Lead early stage technology development with high disruption potential and mature these technologies from initial concept to successful product introduction.
- Coordinate disruptive technology efforts in close collaboration with GEV businesses and ensure that such efforts are incorporated into long-term multi-generational technology and product roadmaps and plans.
- Drive technology and product roadmaps to ensure our businesses have a multi-year strategic plan that is competitive and differentiated in high voltage electronics and power systems.
- Provide technical leadership across GE Vernova on disruptive high voltage technologies and market trends, with a strong understanding of high voltage engineering challenges, energy systems evolution, and the competitive landscape.
- Shape and develop a government funding pipeline of projects to build a portfolio of new high voltage electronics technologies for GE Vernova, including programs with DOE and DOD.

Required Qualifications
- PhD or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, High Voltage Engineering, Power Electronics, Materials Science, Applied Physics, or a related technical field with a minimum of 15 years of experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience developing and deploying advanced high voltage electronics, power conversion systems, or high-power switching technologies for industrial businesses.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience leading teams or large technical development projects.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience working on developing high voltage electronics, insulation and dielectric systems, power conversion architectures, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and high-power semiconductor devices.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience leading large research programs, writing successful R&D proposals, and demonstrated ability to take an idea from concept to a deployable product.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary programs.
- Industrial experience in the field of high voltage engineering, power electronics, or energy systems with a focus on high-power applications.
- Demonstrated capabilities in related fields such as pulsed power systems, solid-state power conversion, wide bandgap (WBG) semiconductor devices (SiC, GaN), advanced dielectric materials, partial discharge diagnostics, and high voltage testing and characterization.
- Ability to make decisions with confidence when problems or solutions are not well defined.
- Demonstrated capability to thrive in a matrixed team environment.
- Familiarity with multiple GE businesses and shown ability to leverage cross-business networks to achieve outcomes.
- Experience with GE Vernova products and systems in the Power, Wind, and Electrification businesses, particularly those involving high voltage components, HVDC, or grid-connected power electronics.
- Shown ability to manage risk and uncertainty for self and team within a dynamic priority-setting environment.
- Strong technical acumen paired with an ability to understand a wide range of technology domains.
- Influence, facilitation, and negotiation skills; boundary-less / solution-focused approach.
- Demonstrated ability to take an innovative idea from research to a product.
- Strong record of peer-reviewed journal publications and conference presentations.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $152,400.00 and $254,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
