Job Description Summary

The Manufacturing Test Manager will lead a team of test engineers to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of the end of line test of GE Vernova's power electronics products that are used in its global HVDC projects. As a visible member of the manufacturing leadership team, you will inspire those around you and be responsible for delivering operational excellence in the SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) framework.
Your mission is to implement the optimum test strategy across manufacturing with engineering teams to ensure safety, quality, reliability and efficiency to meet the rigorous demands of our customers. This role ensures that all products meet or exceed customer expectations and comply with regulatory standards.
With an increasing workload, safety, quality and efficiency in all operations will be a critical, to meet our business targets. Using Continues Improvement/ Lean methods you will remove waste and ensure that the test equipment downtime is minimised.
The role is a pivotal position in a fast-paced environment that requires both technical expertise, strong leadership, and clear communication. Ultimately leading the Manufacturing Test team to create a strong quality and safety culture with engaged and motivated staff while maintaining strong working relationships with all stake holders (internal, external, and customers).

Are you a dedicated and skilled test engineer with a passion for leadership and collaboration? GE Vernova is seeking an exceptional Manufacturing Test Manager to join our innovative team and lead the end-of-line testing for our groundbreaking power electronics products used in global HVDC projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety & Governance: Foster a culture of high-voltage safety and ensure all testing complies with global standards.
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a forward-thinking test strategy, including full test automation and the adoption of modern toolchains (Python, MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, TestStand). Manage IT requirements and equipment for seamless test system integration.
  • Team Development: Nurture and mentor a talented team of test engineers. Manage resource allocation, conduct performance reviews, and provide training on emerging technologies.
  • Project & Budget Management: Oversee multiple test programs, ensuring timely delivery within budget. Manage equipment procurement and maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary technical liaison between Engineering and manufacturing teams. Drive the implementation of test circuits and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) using structured methodologies (5Y, 8D, FMEA).

Skills & Experience:

  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in power electronics testing (AC/DC, DC/AC). Deep understanding of electrical test circuits, power semiconductors (IGBT, thyristor), and thermal management. Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and applying IEC standards.
  • Leadership: Proven experience leading in a manufacturing test environment with automated test equipment.
  • HV Safety: Senior Authorized Person with experience in Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (EAW).
  • Diagnostic Tools: Experience with high-speed oscilloscopes, signal processors, multi-meters, and insulation testers.
  • Automation & Data Fluency: Proficiency in VB, Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or TestStand. Ability to process large datasets for real-time KPI reporting using Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical risks to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to lead through influence and foster a collaborative environment in a matrix organization.
  • Desirable: Experience with IEC 62501, high-pressure hydraulic testing, water conditioning, and advanced manufacturing methods.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Desirable: Robotic framework certified professional (RFCP), NI (National Instruments) Power Electronics Certification.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid role involving office-based work and hands-on activities on the production floor.
  • Ability to work in a shift-based manufacturing environment, including standing or walking for extended periods.
  • Overtime/weekend work may be necessary to support production.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required.
  • Occasional travel to sister sites, suppliers, and customer locations may be required.
