Job Description Summary
The Senior Benefits Manager, US Health & Wellness is a thought leader responsible for the comprehensive and strategic management of all US health and welfare benefits programs for our US employee and retiree populations. This includes helping to design and oversee medical, dental, vision, care management, support programs, tools and wellness resources. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking benefits specialist with significant experience designing and managing benefit programs in large, complex matrixed organizations and a proven track record of ensuring that benefits are competitive, compliant, and cost-effective, balancing the needs of the company with those of its diverse workforce.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy and Program Design:
- Research and analyze market trends, employee needs, and competitor offerings to develop and recommend innovative and competitive health care benefit and wellness programs.
- Collaborate with Total Rewards leadership and strategic partners and senior leaders across the company on program design/offerings.
- Work with senior leadership and finance to model and predict future costs and ensure benefit options align with the company's financial goals.
- Lead the annual benefits renewal and open enrollment processes, including managing communications and implementing program changes.
- Vendor Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external partners, including benefits vendors and benefits consultants.
- Interface with our sourcing partners to negotiate contracts, our administrative partners to monitor vendor performance, and conduct regular reviews to ensure high-quality service and cost efficiency.

- Ensure all health and welfare benefit plans and programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and other relevant laws.
- Conduct periodic audits to ensure program compliance and accurate record-keeping.
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to educate employees on their benefits, plan changes, and programs/tools/resources.
- Act as a trusted resource for employees, resolving complex benefits-related inquiries and escalated issues.
- Provide guidance and training to HR staff and managers on benefits administration and policy interpretation.
- Interface with matrixed business partners (e.g. HR, Finance, Legal, People Operations, Union Relations and others)
- Utilize internal/external systems as necessary to collect, analyze program data to evaluate plan performance, track utilization, and measure the effectiveness of programs and scan for opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in benefits field, with a strong focus on large, self-funded health plans
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or other relevant professional certification.
- Experience with a global workforce and international benefits administration.
- Experience in a Fortune 500 company environment.
- Health & Welfare consulting or insurance carrier experience with a focus on medical, dental, pharmacy.
- Demonstrable experience designing and managing health and welfare benefits for a large, multi-state workforce, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing employee benefits, including ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, and COBRA.
- Proven experience managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and conducting comprehensive benefits analysis.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex benefit concepts clearly to all levels of employees.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in using HRIS and benefits management software.
- Up to 20% travel required (adhoc)

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $141,900.00 and $236,600.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
