Regional Customs Leader
Job Description Summary
The NAM Regional Customs Operations Leader - is a senior operations and compliance leader responsible for designing, implementing, and governing customs operational processes across the NAM region for Electrification Segment among multiple manufacturing and selling business locations. This role provides deep, independent customs expertise to proactively manage compliance, reduce operational risk, and enable efficient, compliant cross-border trade.
The role holder acts as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and external partners, confidently interpreting customs regulations, challenging brokers and business teams when required, and embedding compliant processes upfront to avoid downstream remediation, audits, and penalties.
A Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) is a minimum requirement, enabling the individual to exercise professional judgment, ensure regulatory accuracy, and represent the company with credibility before customs authorities and brokers.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and execute the North America (U.S. & Canada) customs operations strategy aligned with the Customs Enterprise Standard and local regulatory requirements
2. Lead Regional Customs Councils, ensuring alignment, issue escalation, and sharing of best practices.
3. Manage and maintain productive working relationships with customs authorities (CBP & CBSA) and other government agencies.
4. Oversee customs brokers and BPO partners, ensuring effective daily clearance operations, leading clearance issue resolution, and driving continuous improvements in compliance, quality, service levels, and operational performance through quarterly business reviews.
5. Establish and govern pre-declaration review controls to ensure accurate valuation, classification, country of origin, and completeness of licensing, permits, and special program documentation prior to import or export.
6. Exercise independent customs judgment to challenge broker decisions and internal stakeholder interpretations that do not align with regulations or company standards.
7. Identify regional and country-specific customs risks and implement mitigation controls, partnering with Compliance Leader to assess internal controls, drive remediation, and strengthen overall compliance and audit readiness.
8. Respond to internal and external audits, inquiries, and investigations, coordinating with Legal, Compliance, and Finance as required.
9. Prepare and deliver periodic reporting and metrics on duty spend, quality, savings, risks, opportunities, accomplishments, and value creation, providing clear, actionable insights to regional and global leadership.
10. Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, providing clear guidance and constructively challenging non-compliant approaches.
11. Ensure the NAM region maintains trained and capable customs personnel, providing coaching, technical guidance, and oversight to strengthen customs knowledge and execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college with 5+ years of experience in Customs Processes OR
- High School Diploma/GED with 7+ years of experience in Customs Processes OR
- In-country Professional Customs Certification or Accreditation with 5+ years of experience in Customs Processes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
