Regional Customer Application Engineer

Own the project control activity globally and drive consistent functional specifications and common global processes for projects implementation. Activities that are conducted to better understand or ultimately meet the expectations of the customer Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Serves as the technical leader/manager to develop a scope of work and plan schedule and monitor engineering activities for customer projects. Provide technical leadership and interface with Proposal Management, Cost Estimating, Partners, Customers, GE Product Engineering, Sourcing, Engineering sub-contractors.
- Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
- Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related fields
- Minimum 10 years of experience in EPC project environments within Transmission & Distribution or Power Generation, with exposure to commercial/tendering activities, project technical management, application engineering, or similar roles
- Proficiency in some engineering disciplines such as: Civil work, layout, and Integration design, control & protection hardware, system & performance studies, or Electrical design).
- Strong communication skills in English
- Ability and willingness to travel worldwide up to 20% or more of the time.
Desired Characteristics
- Fluency in Arabic or French can be an advantage
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence others, and clearly present complex messages.
- Knowledge of project execution risks and financial processes
- Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver results in dynamic environments, with flexibility to adjust to evolving project demands and priorities
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, innovative thinking, and a results-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrates ownership, accountability, judgment, decision making, and the ability to inspire and lead teams with a clear vision and passion for the role.
