Job Description Summary

The Project Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all engineering activities on complex Grid Solutions turnkey projects within our GE Vernova FACTS solutions, ensuring delivery to defined scope, schedule, cost and quality targets. Operating in an international EPC environment, the Sr. PEM drives the technical execution strategy, manages multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and serves as the key technical interface among customers, partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Owns the engineering scope, budget and schedule, consolidates and manages the project engineering plan and drawing list, and coordinates all design activities across disciplines, partners, and suppliers.
  • Ensures on-time, first-time-right delivery of engineering documentation, manages technical interfaces, leads design and gate reviews, oversees design change management, and actively mitigates technical and execution risks.
  • Translates customer technical requirements into compliant, optimized, and cost-effective solutions, manages technical clarifications and exceptions, and supports claims and variations related to engineering scope.
  • Leads engineering resource planning and workload management, coordinates global design teams, and fosters effective collaboration with Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and O&M to secure constructability, operability, and maintainability of the delivered solution.
  • Oversees supplier and partner technical alignment: supports sourcing strategy, contributes to bid evaluations and negotiations, and manages the technical follow-up of supplier documentation, FAT/ITP reviews, and design subcontracted activities.
  • Ensures robust document and configuration management, including control of input data, tracking of customer comments and approvals, management of deviations, and timely delivery of O&M and as-built documentation.
  • Embeds EHS and Quality requirements into the design process, leads HAZID sessions, enforces design freeze and zero-deviation principles, and drives non-conformance resolution and continuous improvement through Return of Experience and knowledge capitalization.
  • Supports tendering activities by providing technical input to bids, identifying execution risks and opportunities, contributing to solution optimization and costing, and ensuring continuity between tender phase assumptions and project execution.

Required Qualifications

  • For roles outside of the USA- This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Customer Project Engineering within High Voltage Energy industry, preferably with High Voltage substation, FACTS solution is a plus. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • For roles in USA - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).

Desired Characteristics

    • Proven track record leading multi-disciplinary engineering on complex EPC projects in T&D/Power, with strong technical depth in relevant engineering disciplines and standards.
    • Strong project management skills: planning and controlling engineering scope, schedule, budget, interfaces, and design change/configuration management.
    • Effective people leader: able to coordinate and motivate global teams, build alignment, coach others, and take clear ownership and accountability for outcomes.
    • Customer- and stakeholder-focused: skilled at understanding and challenging requirements, handling technical clarifications and comments, and representing engineering in front of customers and partners.
    • Excellent communication and influencing skills: succinctly explains complex topics, leads design reviews and technical meetings, and collaborates effectively with Procurement, Construction, and other functions.
    • Strong problem-solving, risk and quality mindset: integrates EHS into design, manages risks and non-conformances, drives continuous improvement, and supports tendering with robust, optimized technical solutions.
