Product Definition Engineer
Job Description Summary
This Product Definition Engineer job involves creation of CAD models, altering existing models to suit project requirements, pipe routing, creation of new drawings, revision of existing drawings, creation of new Bill of Material, revising of existing Bill of Material. The four skills are essential for this job - 3D modeling skills using NX (Unigraphics) or similar tools, understanding of gas turbine power plant and associated components including piping routing, execution of day-to-day task using PLM or similar tool and using Change Management process and ability to review piping models, drawings and bill of material.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Executing PDE scope for Gas, Steam and Generator Accessories to deliver 3D models, arrangement drawings, Bills of materials with immaculate quality, while adhering to timelines.
- Ability to interpret Schematics/P&ID.
- Ensure all interface and interference characteristics between components are established and agreed upon by the designers of interfacing system
- Proactively and effectively communicate progress, status, risk, needed inputs and target release dates to stakeholders.
- Participate in Daily Management meetings to plan for four-week look ahead and work with prioritization
- Follow Daily management rigor within the team to ensure timely delivery of tasks
- Apply Lean principles in daily management and strive for continuous improvement
- Ensure quality of PDE deliverables by following self-check and peer check rigor.
- Utilize applicable PLM system (Enovia) to manage and issue product definition data.
- Follow concurrent Engineering processes, understand input from the different engineering disciplines, monitor progress and quality, and ensure schedule requirements are met.
- Effectively communicate and provide recommendations to internal and external GE customers through analysis, preparation and presentation of technical PDE data.
- Provide design support to cross-functional teams to improve or resolve design, performance, manufacturing, supplier, or field issues..
- Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements.
- Contribute to fulfilling organizational KPIs and Initiatives
- Demonstrated ability in managing several projects across functions (New Product Introduction, New Units, Services, Cost Out, etc.), ensuring On-time Delivery, with high quality and on-budget.
- Strong team player with the ability to effectively work under pressure.
- Focus on ownership, accountability and sense of urgency
- Understanding and implementing Model Based Product Definition initiatives
- CAD expertise with NX(Unigraphics)
- PLM expertise with ENOVIA or Teamcenter

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (Mechanical and related streams)
- 1-3 years' experience in design field with strong expertise in NX(Unigraphics)
- Strong experience in working with large assemblies, part and arrangement level drawing definitions
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, capabilities and assembly procedures.
Desired Characteristics
- Basic knowledge on Power plant components and its functioning
- Knowledge of Piping standards like ASME B31.1 (Power Piping, ASME B31.3 (Process piping) and Welding Practices
- Working knowledge of plant design software like AVEVA E3D or Smartplant
- Experience in accessories engineering design and/or accessories product or process experience
- Ability to assertively communicate to Senior Leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to delegate and follow-up.
- Focus on ownership, accountability and sense of urgency
- Exposure to Model Based Product Definition
