Process Engineer - Coatings

Job Description Summary

The Process Engineer will be responsible for special processes such as thermal spraying coating. In this role, the Process Engineer would implement and qualify the new equipment and new gas turbine component repair technologies and drive the continuous improvement of the process.

Essential Responsibilities :

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Manage and take ownership of assigned special processes to enhance robustness, efficiency and productivity
• Responsible for new capital equipment and facilitates recommendation, revaluation, selection, installation and commissioning
• Manage and qualify development or new repairs that will be approved by Engineering
• Develop a continuing quality and productivity improvement program on the assigned special processes for all applicable products
• Interface with and support other departments to ensure a totally integrated and effective approach to overall business plans and strategies
• Generate and maintain adequate technical records of the experiments and parametric studies managing the documented processes

Qualifications/Requirements :

• A Degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering from a local or internationally recognised university
• At least 3 years experience engineering processes in related industry preferred
• Knowledge of repair of Gas Turbine components and Plasma spraying coating will be advantageous
• Familiarity with thermal sprayong and diffusion coatings
• Previous experience in repair of industrial gas, aero turbines or aeroderivatives would be advantageous (but not essential)
• Experience in Lean Six sigma would be advantageous (but not essential)
