Job Description Summary

A Power System Engineer is responsible for the implementation of advanced power systems applications. The Power system applications implementation include software configuration & testing, Application integration and tuning of the power system (e.g. Network and Generation Applications including Modular Network and Generation applications), Forecasting including Renewable and DER Forecasting, Simulation frameworks, and WAMS.

The role includes Application tuning and results analysis, tasks planning, physical progress monitoring, risks identification and mitigation. As much as required database modelling in relation to the electrical characteristics of the network. The role is required physically in Saudi Arabia.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Acts as technical focal point at site for implementation, tuning and maintenance of software for one or more power system applications (RealTime Network Application such as RTNET, Power flow, Study applications, Contingency analysis, DER and Renewable Forecasting, WAMS)
  • Ensures quality assurance standards and procedures are followed in all aspects of application tuning
  • Consults with other technical folks to ensure that project-related applications are configured according to best design and standards guidelines are being followed.
  • Performs power system applications tuning, results analysis, defect analysis and correction.
  • Plans the implementation tasks, monitor progresses and costs, evaluates CTC (cost to complete) for his assigned power system applications.
  • Provides input to delivery manager on schedules, risks evaluation and mitigation plan in relation to power application tuning.
  • Interfaces and develops relationships with customers and partners on general and specific issues within area of functional expertise.
  • Power Systems Applications delivery respecting budget, delay, quality and customer satisfaction on projects
  • Ability to manage customer at site and coordinate efficiently
  • Ability to achieve best application results within the required time

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Power Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or another engineering discipline with a strong electrotechnical foundation.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the power systems domain, or a degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 6 months of experience using any AEMS software.
  • Having programming skills in C++, Java or other related language is good but not mandatory
  • Strong understanding of Machine Learning algorithms such as regression, ANN, etc.
  • Good understanding of WAMS concepts
  • Good understanding of database operation
  • The candidate must be registered with Saudi engineering council
  • The legal right to work in KSA without company sponsorship or time restriction

Desired Characteristics

  • Good business and software knowledge of the power systems domain, in particular the power network modelling, network analysis and Generation control functions / Applications
  • Good business knowledge of the energy domain is highly appreciated
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable in technical discussions to customers (English and Arabic)
