Job Description
The Power Electronics Lab Manager will be involved in the development and testing of low voltage and medium voltage power electronics designs for Drive System projects. This is a technical role and will involve working in a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to support manufacturing & validation of LV (690V) to MV (11kV), MW-scale power electronics for Marine, Offshore and Naval, Renewable Energy and Industry applications.
The Power Electronics Lab Manager will report directly to the Drive System Leader
In this role you will:
- Verification, validation testing and supporting factory acceptance testing of Power electronic sub-assemblies.
- A Senior Authorised Person (SAP); experienced and safety oversight of high-voltage (upto 11kV MV) electrical systems and the personnel working on them Lead the testing and sign of Safety method statements for power electronics assembly testing.
- Conduct functional testing and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies.
- Experienced in performing functional testing and debugging/ fault finding of assemblies, Power modules and PCBs and tracing the component to PCB/schematic, identify components, test points, nets etc.
- Expertise with standard electronics test equipment like oscilloscopes, function generators, meggers.
- Taking responsibility for the management of test equipment and consumables within the test/lab area, ensuring good state of repair and stored correctly.
- Experienced in all aspects of setup of equipment to support testing and fault-finding including creating small mechanical test-fixtures and liaising with mechanical team to get it manufactured.
- Experienced in ESD safe practices and ability to lead/introduce ESD safe best practices in the lab.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve technical issues
- Assemble/solder electronic Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) according to specifications and engineering drawings
We are looking for a committed and professional individual with:
- Possession of, or capable of obtaining, SC-level security clearance.
- Relevant academic degree or equivalent qualifications in power electronics or a related discipline.

- Experience in for power electronic converters and drives.

- Problem solving, Root Cause Analysis. 8D
- Willing to work extended hours at critical times.
- Familiarity with EPLAN (or equivalent) for electrical schematics capture.
