The Plant Engineer combines individual trades into a functional system. He considers applicable standards and regulations as well as customer specifications and technical requirements of each trade. The Plant Engineer ensures that the overall system can be operated and maintained safely. Within tender and execution projects the Plant Engineer reports to the Project Team Leader.

Job Description Summary

We are seeking a technically strong Plant Engineer to support the design, optimization, and reliability of plant equipment in on- and offshore HVDC projects. The role includes troubleshooting technical issues, leading equipment and infrastructure improvements, and implementing solutions to enhance safety, performance, and efficiency. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Plant Engineer supports maintenance strategies, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate has experience with industrial systems, process controls, equipment reliability, and engineering standards in complex plant environments.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Support conversion of project contractual documents into plant engineering requirements
  • The plant engineer transfers customer requirements for high voltage equipment into supplier specifications and manages manufacturers during design and production phase.
  • Design optimized electro-mechanical substation & buildings layouts integrating all the required equipment considering their installation, operation, and maintenance constraints and applicable standards and regulations.
  • Prepare civil work guide drawings as input for the civil designer under consideration of the requirements for high voltage equipment, control and protection cubicles and balance of plant equipment
  • Transfer earthing studies into earthing layout drawings for AC- / DC-yards, buildings and foundations
  • Generate earthing detail drawings as input for installation contractors
  • Development of procurement inquiry packages for primary equipment (e.g. HV post insulators, clamps connectors and conductors, etc.) including their necessary physical properties
  • Perform regular checks and review with the end customers and project stakeholders with the support of the BIM Team
  • Actively contribute to customer queries
  • Ensure that technical questions from colleagues and suppliers are clarified
  • Participate in project design and gate reviews
  • Contribute to continuous improvement process within plant engineering discipline

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge on High Voltage substation international standards & guidelines (IEC, CIGRE...) and related equipment
  • Proficient with Autodesk CAD tools Revit & Navisworks
  • Good understanding of civil engineering and offshore platform design and their requirements
  • Basic knowledge on contract and project management, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), or engineering equipment package (EEP) type
  • Analytical mind, rigorous and commitment
  • Professional English spoken and written
