Summary
Oversees the strategic and operational aspects of materials and operations planning flow within our organisation, ensuring the right materials are available at the right time and place to support production and customer demand. The Planning and Materials Leader will create the Master Production Schedule and lead the execution and continuous improvement of wing to wing materials processes. They will partner with the leadership team to develop a customer focused environment that maximizes on-time delivery while minimizing inventory.
Overall responsible for strategic planning, demand planning, inventory management, warehouse logistics planning, team leadership, budget management, performance management and continuous improvement within your function.
Job Description
- Lead a team of planning and materials personnel in materials and operations planning, inventory, production control and procurement requirements, demonstrating strong integration with engineering and manufacturing operations teams and cross functional stakeholders
- Ensures that standard materials processes and standard KPIs are used to provide the best delivery with the lowest inventory cost for the assigned area
- Support the SIOP process (Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning): contribute to material procurement timing, order release timing requirements, available capacity, & lead-times
- Lead capacity requirements planning processes by gathering & loading information into planning tools, analyzing data, and providing regular updates
- Ensure that the master schedule and production schedules are synchronized using ERP and other tools. Ensure that training and skills necessary to use planning tools are provided and tools are monitored for appropriate use
- Report, monitor and improve plant materials related KPIs: inventory balance, inventory turns, on time delivery, on time to need, system health & usage, master data adherence
- Lead and Monitor all the logistics activities such as incoming receipts, days to stock, inventory accuracy (cycle counts), and shortages
- Demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes for RMR and Module build
- Uses experience and expertise to solve problems logically, get to root cause and implement prevention to avoid recurrence
- Identifying opportunities to improve materials planning and logistics processes through Lean, Kaizen and the implementation of best practices or new technologies
