The AMRT Operations Engineer will lead our data and technical systems strategy and implementation, oversee communication systems, and serve as the organization's Quality focal. The ideal candidate will have a background in data systems, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to quality excellence.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Own the AMRT operational data and systems architecture and strategy, defining requirements, structure, governance, and integrations for Smartsheet-based workflows and dashboards; partner with dedicated Smartsheet developers for configuration and coding to enable scalable execution and leadership visibility
- Serve as the AMRT global Quality focal, coordinating QMS activities, audits, and ISO accreditation efforts in partnership with Quality and Customer Service Engineering teams
- Act as a power user for data systems, owning AMRT and Gas Power operational reporting, leveraging existing analytics, and initiating the definition and creation of new reports and dashboards as business needs evolve
- Facilitate global technical communication by establishing and maintaining robust communication strategies, channels, and protocols across all levels of the organization that enhance collaboration, ensure timely information exchange, and support the alignment of global teams.
- Champion lean methodologies, standard work, and participate or lead Lean to problem solve or improve processes within Operations and the broader AMRT organization
- Lead continuous improvement efforts to improve availability, accessibility, and simplicity of data and communication by all levels of the organization
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Materials, or related field)
- Proven experience in Engineering or related field within a manufacturing, design, repair, or data systems environment
- Demonstrated experience in cross-functional project or program management
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally < 10% as required
Desired characteristic:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Experience in engineering, gas turbine programs, or data management
- Familiarity with standard and advanced Excel functions, databases, and SQL queries
- Familiarity with project management strategies, Lean/quality certifications, or AGILE methodologies
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to drive complex projects to completion in fast-paced and changing environments
- Experience in applying change management principles
- One-team approach with strong interpersonal, team building, and stakeholder management capabilities
- Highly effective technical communication skills (oral and written), with the ability to engage internal and external customers and senior leadership
- Familiarity with Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Proficiency in data visualization and collaboration tools such as Spotfire, Tableau, Smartsheet or similar platforms is considered a strong additional asset
