Job Description Summary
We are seeking an experienced Nuclear Security Leader to support the GE Vernova Hitachi (GVH) Small Modular Reactor (SMR) business in Canada. In this position you will identify, communicate, implement and oversee applicable regulatory and corporate requirements, standards, and processes related to information, personnel, and physical security at GVH facilities in Canada.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Evaluate U.S. and Canadian security requirements to identify equivalencies, gaps, and implementation needs.
- Establish access control and physical security procedures for GVH sites in Canada in accordance with applicable regulations and corporate standards.
- Develop a framework for the interface between licensees and the GVH information security program, including matters related to classified information, safeguards information, and security-related proprietary information.
- Facilitate and oversee background checks, security clearances, and related approvals for the GVH Canada team to ensure compliance with Personnel Security, Information Security, and Import/Export Control requirements.
- Collaborate with new reactor security design engineers as needed.
- Serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) with customers to ensure security compliance requirements are met.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college OR 5 years of experience in Nuclear and/or Industrial Security Program.
- Minimum 5 years of nuclear security experience associated with an operating nuclear power facility in Canada, including at least 3 years in a management role
- Minimum 2 years of experience with, and strong working knowledge of, the security requirements of:
- the Nuclear Safety and Control Act
- Nuclear Security Regulations
- Nuclear Non-proliferation Import and Export Control Regulations
- security-related regulatory documents, including but not limited to Canada Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) REGDOC-2.12
Eligibility Requirements
- Eligible for a Level II Security Clearance through the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS)
- Ability to respond to site within 90 minutes
- Ability to conduct on-site visits and assessments within Canada and travel to the United States as necessary.
- For Canada GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in Canada for this opening.
- This position will report onsite to the Markham office 3 days a week.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience or training associated with the Canadian Nuclear Security Industry (CNSC), whether in government or private sector.
- Knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS)
- Demonstrated proficiency in implementing prescribed, protected, and classified information security programs in compliance with CNSC, CSIS, RCMP, and Treasury Board requirements.
- Operational knowledge of interpreting and applying licensee security-related procedures
- Excellent analytical and project management skills
- Demonstrated experience conducting threat and risk assessments and applying the results to security planning and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, document, plan, and execute security programs and projects
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues to non-technical audiences and influence stakeholders

For candidates applying to a Canadian-based position, the pay range for this position is between $118K and $168K CAD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: Discretionary annual bonus.
