Mechanical Arrangement and Piping Engineer
Job Description Summary
The Mechanical Arrangement Engineer is responsible for the planning, coordination, and integration of mechanical equipment, piping systems, and associated structures within power plant facilities. The role ensures that mechanical systems are effectively arranged and incorporated into the overall plant design to support safe, efficient, and maintainable project execution. Through the development of 2D and 3D engineering deliverables, the position supports all project design phases while ensuring alignment with technical requirements, interdisciplinary interfaces, constructability, and modularization objectives. The role may need of travel to Site and Customer / Partner or engineering sub contractor location for relevant collaboration and expediting.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the integration of mechanical equipment, piping systems, and related structures across power plant work units, buildings, and site areas.
- Develop mechanical arrangement designs and 3D models with consideration for constructability, operability, accessibility, and maintenance.
- Prepare piping load data, piping isometric drawings, and piping and support bills of quantities (BOQs).
- Produce site layouts, general arrangement drawings, civil guides, hazardous area drawings, and other key mechanical arrangement documentation.
- Design and route large and small bore piping in accordance with P&IDs, including quantity definition.
- Design pipe supports, support steel, and related hanger documentation.
- Prepare piping load data and piping isometric drawings.
- Define the location and integration of instrument racks and supports within the 3D model.
- Support the arrangement and integration of major systems such as turbine halls, pipe racks, cooling water, fuel gas, fuel oil, and water supply/disposal systems.
- Contribute to modularization activities for prefabricated power plant structures and systems.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.
- Apply lessons learned and standard engineering practices using GE tools and methodologies to improve design quality, consistency, and execution efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Education & Training:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Functional Knowhow:
- Strong knowledge of power plant systems and processes.
- Hands-on knowledge of applicable ASME, EN, and DIN standards, as well as Taiwan local requirements.
- Good knowledge of engineering, design, and project management tools and methods related to plant arrangement, piping, and electrical arrangement.
- Hands-on experience with E3D, specially design and drawing modules.
- Hands-on experience in pipe stress analysis using tools such as Rohr-2 or CAESAR II.
