Lead Supplier Quality Engineer
Job Description Summary
This person will be a welding engineer (IWE) responsible for developing, qualifying, and monitoring supplier quality for assigned equipment, components, and parts-from supplier selection through final inspection and shipment release. The role also includes reviewing and approving supplier welding documentation and supporting the development of welding capabilities across global MSD & BoP suppliers.
Working closely with Engineering, Sourcing, Procurement, and Project teams, the role supports various GE Gas Power project types, ensuring safety, compliance, and high-quality supplier performance.
Job Description
Rules and Responsibilities
- Support supplier selection, qualification, and capability assessments by evaluating technical readiness, capacity, and process robustness
- Conduct QMS and manufacturing process audits; document findings, track actions, and manage supplier approvals and records
- Lead first-piece qualifications, special process reviews, design verifications, and final product release activities to ensure full compliance
- Drive supplier performance through scorecards, development plans, and continuous monitoring of roadmap commitments
- Define inspection and surveillance strategies based on product and supplier risk; perform on-site/witness inspections and verify conformity with specifications and standards
- Manage deviations, NCRs, RCAs, and corrective actions; evaluate effectiveness, support Cost of Poor-Quality analysis, and contribute to vendor recovery efforts
- Review and approve welding documentation and procedures; support welding audits, ensure adherence to PQ requirements, and provide technical guidance on welding practices
- Promote a strong EHS and quality culture across the supply base; lead cost-out, process improvement, and audit activities
- Facilitate DFMEA/PFMEA and similar risk assessment activities; stop work when safety or quality risks are identified and define conditions for safe continuation

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, or Quality Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in quality, supply chain, operations, or project management
- Excellent English and Turkish communication skills
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings, standards, and specifications
- Ability to work with global teams across time zones and willingness to travel up to 30%
- Possess IIW IWE and/or IWI certification is a must
Desired Characteristics
- Have experience with NDT Level 3 or Level 2 for RT, PT, MT, and VT
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of manufacturing processes relevant to assigned commodities
- Exhibit a strong quality, compliance, problem-solving, and lean-focused mindset
- Show the ability to make sound decisions and deliver high-quality organizational and reporting outputs
- Bring experience with heat exchangers, welded structures, piping, pumps, and valves, which is advantageous
- Possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and facilitation abilities
- Apply project management experience with a customer-focused, goal-oriented mindset
- Demonstrate multicultural communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership
- Hold Lean Six Sigma certification and ISO Lead Auditor training, which are preferred
