Lead Sourcing Specialist - Commodity Management
Job Description Summary
The Lead Sourcing Specialist - Commodity Management is responsible for executing commodity sourcing strategies for Dead Tank Circuit Breakers (DTCB) and Instrument Transformers (ITR) within the Grid Solutions - Power Transmission business in North America. This individual contributor role manages assigned commodities and supplier relationships to support cost competitiveness, supply continuity, quality, and risk mitigation for critical grid projects.
The ideal candidate brings sourcing experience in the energy and power transmission sector, along with strong analytical, commercial, and cross-functional collaboration skills. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with engineering, quality, operations, finance, legal, and customer project teams to support sourcing initiatives that directly impact business performance and project execution.
Job Description
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Propose and execute sourcing strategies for assigned DTCB and ITR commodities in alignment with business priorities and GE Vernova sourcing processes.
- Manage supplier performance across key metrics, including cost productivity, inflation/deflation, delivery, quality, and risk reduction.
- Support commodity planning activities, including business cases, dual+ sourcing, tooling investments, CAPEX requests, and financial impact analysis.
- Partner with suppliers to improve cost, capacity, quality, and sustainability performance.
- Pilot supplier identification, market analysis, RFQ/RFP processes, commercial evaluations, and negotiations.
- Coordinate supplier qualification activities, including audits, sample submissions, testing, validation, and homologation, in partnership with Quality and Engineering teams.
- Lead supplier contract implementation and ensure sourcing activities comply with internal policies, approval processes, and the GE Vernova Code of Conduct.
- Perform cost analysis including logistics, duties, taxes, make-or-buy, and total cost of ownership.
- Use data and KPIs to identify trends, support performance reviews, and help drive corrective actions.
- Work cross-functionally to resolve supplier-related issues involving cost, quality, delivery, and supply continuity.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share sourcing best practices across teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field
- Minimum 7 years of experience in strategic sourcing or supply chain management within the energy or power transmission sector.
- Minimum 7 years of experience sourcing Circuit Breakers and/or Instrument Transformers or similar electrical products and their global supplier markets.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in supplier management, sourcing, negotiations, and commercial analysis.
- Ability to develop business cases, cost analyses, and financial justifications.
- Knowledge of logistics, customs duties, taxes, make-or-buy analysis, and total cost of ownership.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including KPI tracking and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of SAP MM and SCM modules
- Availability for occasional travel within North America and internationally.

Relocation Assistance Provided: No
For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $94,600.00 and $157,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
