Job Description Summary

The Steam Plant Power Service (SPPS) is one of P&L within Power Service Region India footprint and is responsible for growth of Market Share, backlog & profitability in aftersales market of Steam Plants.

The Boiler Field Services-TFA, is a key role in the SPPS Team where you will have significant opportunity to demonstrate your strategic, creative problem-solving, technical, communication and process skills in a complex, global and fast-paced environment.

Candidate will be accountable for successful execution of the Boiler service project assigned to him in a lead role for a complex site execution project. He will have to work with cross-functional resources/teams to deliver results, lead long-term planning for the successful site execution of the project, manage complex issues including technical solutions.

Candidate will be deputed at job-site as a Site Lead and report to the Boiler Field Service Head in Region India based out of Kolkata/Noida/Chennai/Nagpur /Mumbai.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute the assigned Boiler projects within the specified time line related to erection & commissioning, inspection, trouble-shooting, especially R&M or upgrade type of jobs.
  • Should have working experience in Combustion improvement related Modification/Upgrade jobs. These jobs will have to be carried out in existing units and with in-depth planning of carrying out pre-shutdown and shutdown jobs as outage time will be for a fixed duration and job to be completed within outage. Experience in executing big and complex Boiler projects as a site-leader will be considered as an important criteria for selection for this post.
  • Fully conversant with safety interlocks related to Burner Management System (BMS) or Furnace Safeguard Supervisory system (FSSS), Combustion Modification tuning requirement for NOx control.
  • Although the focus is on Boiler execution experience, but the candidate has to lead work on cross-functional need in other areas also like Turbine, Generator or AQCS jobs to support the site-execution need during ongoing outage or revamp jobs.
  • Candidate must be fully conversant with latest EHS guidelines of site execution and able to implement the EHS norms for safe execution of each project.
  • Should be conversant with Firing system, Pulveriser (Ball & Race Mill, Bowl Mill, Tube Mill, etc.) and has experience in mill testing and troubleshooting of these equipment.
  • The candidate should be fully conversant with Field Quality Plan, able to prepare site QC documents, able to lead and inspect the site NDT jobs
  • Interact with cross functional team to deliver the scope on time.
  • Daily reporting to the field Service Head & PM for the Site progress and the next day program.
  • Ability to plan manpower requirement of various skill-set, Tools & plants including capacity of Crane required, prepare Execution schedule, Service cost estimation based on evaluating a Tender scope will be a responsibility for this post. If required during Tender/Offer preparation stage, the selected candidate will be responsible for site visit, plan the execution methodology and provide the cost-input for Service portion of the job.

Qualifications/equirements:

  • Bachelor degree/Diploma from a government accredited university/Institute or other institutes and in Mechanical, Electronics/instrumentation Power Plant Engineering. Added Qualification in similar field will be given weightage in selection process.
  • Minimum 10-12 years of experience in Erection/Commissioning/Operation Services for industries in the domain of Field Service of Boiler and auxiliary erection, commissioning, inspection services especially as a Site Leader in a complex Boiler Execution Erection/Revamp job site.
  • Indepth knowledge in Control System, ability to develop and implement logics/interlocks in DCS/PLC, Firing system and Pulveriser commissioning
  • Trouble shooting, ability to carry out shutdown inspection, performance checking knowledge of boiler components.
  • Must have execution experience in P.F. fired boilers and auxiliary of 210 MW and above capacity.
  • Willingness to travel site to site and agreed for long term site deputation. The job requirement is at site only.
