Job Description Summary
Manufacturing process engineer owning the design, development, procurement, and implementation of technical processes and equipment supporting High Assay Low Enriched (HALEU) fuel production.
The position supports Natrium HALEU metallic nuclear fuel production capability being established at the Global Nuclear Fuels campus in Wilmington, NC. Natrium Fuel Facility construction is scheduled to begin this summer. In parallel , development facilities are being established to integrate and validate production processes to ensure a reliable transition into production.
As a member of the technical team the process development manufacturing engineer will develop equipment and process specifications, provide technical guidance in equipment design and procurement, oversee installation, write operational procedures, and define and execute test programs leading to successful production implementation.
Job Description

- Process Engineer responsible for Natrium manufacturing processes definition, procurement, testing, refinement, and eventual implementation.
Process Definition
- Develop process and equipment specifications necessary to support equipment designs.
- Support equipment design resources (external and/or external) in the design process.
- Plan and lead the design review process
Procurement
- Lead technical resource in the procurement process participating in the development of procurement package, vendor selection, and technical oversight through delivery.

- Communicate with vendors to resolve technical questions
- Define and conduct acceptance testing.
Implementation
- Lead site installation, testing, and qualification
- Coordinate support resources for implementation
- Ensure overall planning supports integration and production capability as scheduled
- Identify and implement proactive solutions for incremental and step change process improvements related to safety, quality and output through use of Lean and Six Sigma tools.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Materials, Chemistry or equivalent technical discipline from an accredited university
- 5 years of experience in process engineering
- 1 year in process development
Eligibility Requirements
- Walk up and down stairs. Occasionally climb ladders.
- Crawling, kneeling, crouching, reaching around manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to use computers. Frequent use of computer equipment.
- This position will be based in Wilmington, NC and require frequent onsite presence
- Periodic travel required, estimated at up to 15% of work time per year.
Desired Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and process engineering skills
- Experience with manufacturing equipment design, specification, requisitioning, testing and installation and operation.
- Experience in hands-on process development in an R&D environment.
- CAD experience
- Experience in process automation, material handling, automated inspection, data collection and analysis.
- Ability to plan and execute complex development and testing programs
- Strong documentation skills (documenting the development process, writing test plans, procedures, and technical reports).
- Knowledge and experience in nuclear fuel manufacturing safety and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with NRC Regulations, Process Safety Management (PSM), Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) or Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA).
- Proficiency with PC and productivity software [examples include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint]
- Strong interpersonal and technical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma Certification

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
