Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and experienced Lead Process Control and Automation Systems Engineer to join our Industry Systems Engineering team in Rugby. As a member of a multi-disciplined team, you will be responsible for complete project execution from conceptual design, detailed design, validation, site installation and commissioning of Industry Automation systems to deliver world-leading automation control solutions and systems worldwide.
In this role you will
- Specify, design and document automation system technical solutions for a diverse range of projects and technologies to meet specific application requirements (Project planning, Conceptual design, Functional and Safety design, Detailed design, Hardware design, Build procedures, Test procedures, etc.).
- Design and develop DCS Systems for power and automation projects, covering complete design of system architectures, DCS PLC software, HMI SCADA software and DCS hardware to meet specific customer and application requirements of the Automation systems.
- Verification, validation and testing of the Automation systems.
- Ensure Automation solutions comply with the company policies, Health & Safety standards and regulations and cybersecurity requirements.
- Coordinate, plan, lead and execute projects, liaison with customers, suppliers and sub-contractors. to meet on-time delivery, cost and quality targets on projects.
- Provide technical support to the businesses (tendering, development, site installation and commissioning and customers).
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties, and incumbents are expected to undertake all reasonable duties to delivery successful projects.
We are looking for a committed and professional individual with:
- A relevant degree in Electrical, Electronics or Industrial Control Systems Engineering (or equivalent), or significant relevant experience gained in a professional engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge and indepth hands-on experience of PLC programming (IEC 61131-3 Function block, Ladder, Structured text, etc.) and HMI/SCADA systems programming (iFIX, Cimplicity, Proficy, InTouch, WinCC, etc..).
- Good hardware engineering skills (hardware specification, bill of materials, procurement, CAD drawings, hardware build, quality control and hardware testing)
- Wide knowledge and use of industrial communication protocols e.g. ICE61850, DNP3, IEC104, TCP/IP, OPCUA/OPC, Profinet, Profibus, Modbus (RTU/TCP/UDP), etc.
- Good experience in of control & instrumentation, mechanical & electrical packaging for automation systems.
What will make you stand out:
- Proven experience in industrial manufacturing processes (Rolling mills, Process lines, Plate mills, power plants, etc.).
- Knowledge of Power generation and grid stability systems
- Knowledge/awareness of Operational Technology (OT) cyber security.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards achieving it.
- Excellent problem-solver
- Willingness for short term travel to support commissioning activities domestically and overseas.
