Job Description Summary
The Lead Engineer - Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) will provide technical guidance and execution of inspection process development and deployment across GE Vernova's Power portfolio, including Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, and Generators. This role sits within the Advanced Manufacturing & Repair Technology Global Process Development team and is responsible for ensuring robust, compliant, and capable NDT processes that support both manufacturing and service (repair/overhaul) operations globally. The Lead Engineer will act as an NDT subject matter expert, enabling product quality, fleet reliability, and continuous improvement across GE Vernova sites and suppliers.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the development, qualification, and standardization of NDT processes supporting Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, and Generator components across manufacturing and service operations.
- Serve as a technical authority for multiple NDT methods, supporting complex inspections on critical power generation hardware such as rotors, blades, vanes, casings, and shafts.
- Develop, review, approve, and maintain NDT procedures, techniques, and inspection standards in compliance with ASNT, ASTM, ISO, GE Vernova internal specifications, and customer requirements.
- Partner with design, materials, repair engineering, quality, and operations teams to ensure inspection readiness for new product introduction (NPI), design changes, and repair development.
- Support repair qualification and life extension programs, including inspection development for field-returned and aged components.
- Lead technical problem-solving for inspection escapes, service findings, and nonconformances using structured root cause analysis.
- Provide NDT technical leadership during internal, customer, and regulatory audits, as applicable.
- Provide technical support for NDT engineers, inspectors, process engineers, and technicians across global manufacturing and service sites.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inspection capability, digitalization, automation, and advanced NDT technologies to improve quality, safety, and cost.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 2 ASNT Level II certifications in any of the following NDT methods:
- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Eddy Current Testing (ET)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience applying NDT in power generation, heavy industrial, aerospace, or similar regulated manufacturing and service environments.
Desired Characteristics
- ASNT Level III certification in one or more NDT methods.
- Experience inspecting or developing NDT processes for Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, or Generator components, including castings, forgings, weldments, and rotating hardware.
- Familiarity with repair and overhaul (MRO) environments and inspection of service-exposed components.
- Experience with advanced and automated NDT technologies, such as phased array UT, advanced eddy current, or digital inspection systems.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, including mentoring engineers or leading cross-functional projects.
- Demonstrated experience developing, qualifying, or sustaining NDT processes for critical hardware.
- Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASNT, ASTM, ISO, EN, and industry specifications).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, material specifications, and inspection requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence across functions.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on safety, quality, and fleet reliability.
- Ability to operate effectively in a global, matrixed organization

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
