Lead Lean Specialist

Job Description Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining, developing, and implementing lean improvement projects that align with strategic business objectives. The candidate will identify and prioritize opportunities to improve flow and eliminate waste, using best-practice lean tools such as Kanban, Just-In-Time (JIT), Value Stream Mapping (VSM), 5S, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Visual Management and others to drive efficiency and business improvement in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. The Lean Leader will coach teams and collaborate with various departments to foster a culture of continuous improvement and lean thinking.

Roles and Responsibilities

Lean Implementation:

  • Lead and facilitate lean projects across different functions.
  • Implement lean tools and methodologies (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping) to optimize processes.

Coaching and Training:

  • Coach and mentor employees at all levels on lean principles and practices.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to build lean capabilities within the organization.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead cross-functional teams to execute changes.
  • Monitor and measure the impact of lean initiatives to ensure sustainable results.

Cultural Change:

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and lean thinking throughout the organization.
  • Engage employees in lean activities and encourage their participation in improvement projects.

Data Analysis:

  • Utilize data and metrics to drive decision-making and track the effectiveness of lean initiatives.
  • Prepare and present reports on lean project progress and outcomes to senior management.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with department heads, project managers, and team leaders to align lean efforts with business objectives.
  • Foster collaboration and communication across teams to ensure successful implementation of lean practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in lean manufacturing or process improvement.
  • Hands-on experience using Lean tools and methodologies.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong knowledge of lean principles, tools, and methodologies.
  • Green belt certification.
  • Demonstrated success in driving cultural change and adopting lean practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across different processes at a time.
  • Strong organization, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated change management ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups, executives, managers, vendors, and subject matter experts.
  • Self-motivated, with ability to set own action plans and be proactive about improvements.
  • Black Belt Certification.
  • Ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Exceptional problem-solver, able to work on highly complex problems requiring analytical, conceptual and quantitative ability.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good at mentoring and developing people/organizations.
  • Knowledgeable in repair processes, procedures, and planning; relevant experience in the services/repair Industry. Familiarity with GE Vernova's products and operations.
