Lead Firmware UI Developer
Job Description Summary
Working in an Agile Scrum environment, the Firmware Developer will be reporting to the Firmware Technical Manager. The role will require working with the Scrum development team and product management team to create and execute code for product releases.
You will work among a talented and motivated R&D team, applying technologies such as On-line Dissolved Gas Measurement (DGA), Bushing Measurement (Tan Delta and Capacitance), Partial Discharge (PD) detection (UHF & Electrical) and Fast Transient measurement.
The scope of the team is unique, covering fundamental research on new measurement technologies, through to advanced Cloud based Industrial Internet concepts and deployment.

Essential Responsibilities
- Design and implement firmware HMI for embedded devices and systems from requirements to production release, through to post release support
- Contribute to the product roadmap.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Computer Science discipline or equivalent.
- Preferably 8+ years of experience as a front-end developer.
- Preferable working experience in real time, embedded software engineering.
- Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated experience of UX/UI design
- Participate in design and creation of scalable software.
- Understanding and practical application of System Design and System Architecture, i.e. hardware / software portioning, hardware abstraction etc.
- Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, XML and JavaScript.
- Proficiency with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular JS and React.
- Knowledge of multiple backend languages such as C#, Python, Node.js, LUA and bash scripting
- Familiarity with database technology such as MySQL, SQLite3 and MS SQL .
- Demonstrated experience defining and implementing on complex firmware / hardware architectures.
- Solid programming experience in C or C++, familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review.
- Testing, bug fixing and debugging other coding issues.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Evidence of mentoring/coaching software team members.
Desired Characteristics
- Understanding of embedded systems and environments
- Experience of Linux Operating system environments.
- Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of OpenWRT based JUCI architecture.
- Experience with automated build systems (e.g. Jenkins).
- Strong communications skills, with a proven ability to work successfully within a geographically distributed team.
- Ability to demonstrate delivery to time, quality and budget within an Agile programming environment.
- Experience in secure code development - cyber security
