Job Description Summary

The GE Aeroderivative Engineering team is seeking a Lead Engineer with proven mechanical power plant design expertise to support the introduction of GE Vernova's leading-edge power generation technologies.
Aero Engineering executes designs across a full portfolio of initiatives, including New Product Introduction (NPI), Reliability & Maintainability (RAM), Product Cost-Out (PCO) initiatives, customized requisitions, and services and customer support.
Projects include the design of mechanical components and system integration for aeroderivative packages, such as fuel systems, auxiliary skids, synthetic and mineral lube oil systems, enclosures, piping, and other process systems required to support aeroderivative gas turbine operation.
Mechanical design responsibilities span both system-level and detailed component design, covering equipment such as heavy structural components, piping, inlet and exhaust systems, enclosures, bases, buildings and foundations, and overall plant layouts.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide technical direction for mechanical system design and integration of the Aeroderivative Gas Turbine Package product line, applying sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, procedures, and product/program requirements.
  • Develop, evaluate, and execute mechanical designs, analyses, and improvements to meet customer requirements, support product introduction, and resolve complex technical problems across Aero products.
  • Lead the implementation of innovative design, analysis, and development concepts to improve product quality, performance, and cost, while reducing Cost of Quality (CoQ) exposure.
  • Generate and support technical proposals addressing both short-term and long-term business and customer needs, including evaluation of fit and configuration options.
  • Maintain technical leadership within own specialty by anticipating, adapting, and applying emerging technologies, best practices, and market differentiators.
  • Manage design schedules, milestones, budgets, and work assignments in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring on-time delivery (OTD), quality, and efficiency.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate project status, technical results, risks, and key developments to Engineering Managers, Product Line Leaders, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain, Product Services, Project Fulfillment, Performance, Applications, and Controls to execute projects and deliver integrated solutions.
  • Support internal and external customers and suppliers, recognizing opportunities to improve customer satisfaction and deliver cost-effective solutions, including cost-out initiatives.
  • Lead and coordinate extended teams of GE and contract engineers to ensure successful completion of all project deliverables.
  • Read, interpret, and generate F&IDs, mechanical drawings (PMIs), installation manuals, and structural analysis; visualize models in NX UG; and ensure compliance with applicable national and international codes, standards, and directives.
  • Ensure proper documentation and communication of technical data in accordance with engineering policies and procedures.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Engineering Technology from an accredited college and university
  • This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Mechanical Component.

Desired Characteristics

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Proven mechanical and/or process engineering experience in the power industry, with strong knowledge of gas turbine packages, power plants, manufacturing processes, and complete plant design and specification.
  • Sound understanding of applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements, including prior experience designing or installing GE Gas Power products.
  • Strong technical aptitude, including proficiency with relevant engineering systems and tools, and the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership skills, including cross-functional coordination, planning, execution, and a strong focus on quality, execution, and process rigor.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven negotiation and influencing abilities to drive alignment and results.
  • Ability to rapidly build productive relationships and establish the influence required to drive transformational change.
  • Openness to applying AI-enabled solutions (e.g., automation, advanced analytics, and decision-support tools) to improve engineering efficiency, standardize methods, and enhance productivity.
